Diet and Workout Routines

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Kale chips.

Cut the stems and tear leaves into big pieces. Wash & FULLY dry. lightly coat with oil (I use a basting brush thing, the rubbery-type thing that kind of looks like a broom) and some seasoning, whatever yo ulike, and bake.

Let cool for a few minutes and eat.

Only problem with these bastards are they don't stay crispy long. So it's kind of a bake-and-eat type meal. Maybe if you are grilling out burgers or doing some kind of healthier sandwiches with someone/group you can do it.

It's a decent amount of work/time for something that won't last overnight, but they are good.

i like doing the same thing with asparagus, covering them in seasoning and baking, im hooked on it

So these wraps that I used to buy with my sandwiches (more like a pita than a wrap) used to be $1.79 at Kroger. Recently, these little Debbie Downers went up to $3.89. Are you FF'ing me? How does something go up $2.

So I bought 100% whole wheat, 2x fiber bread instead for $2.

Holy shit I forgot how better sandwiches are with actual bread. I am currently treating this sandwich like how I would treat an ISIS member it's so damn good.

Edit: here are the wraps that jumped $2 in price.

Im all about the 35 calorie bread, its all fiber and you can eat a shit ton of it and not screw over your calories.. im averaging like 6 slices a day haha

since we're talkin food, and i basically eat the same shit every day, ill share what i usually make:

boil a chicken breast, your favorite pasta (i choose low cal wheat), pour some frozen mixed veggies in, cover in salsa or hot sauce (way lower cals than pasta sauce). Have some fruits and veggies on the side. super easy; boil water, put shit in it, drain it, cover in fave sauce.

greek yogurt (140cals, 21g protein) + your favorite cereal instead of granola. do granola if you want, but you get a lot more volume of food for the calories if you go cereal.

lunches that i pack to work are either 2 PB and Js on 35 calorie bread, or 2 lunch meat sammiches on 35 cal bread, an apple, a banana, clementines (if i ever remember to buy them lol), and the yogurt+cereal mixture

those Alexia french "fries" that are basically just potatoes cut to look like fries...100 calories per ~12 fries (use a food scale if you don't already). delish.

if i need "dirty" calories, muhfuckin chicken nuggets! 4 of those things are 200 calories.

The easiest thing to do is to put chicken breast into a crockpot overnight and put anything besides the kitchen sink in with it and let it do its magic for 8 hours. Or in the morning and start it during your workday. The crockpot has turned me into Bobby Flay's long lost brother minus the ginger part.

i still find wearing a heart rate monitor to be fascinating... here's todays Texas Method Monday, you can see where the working sets are haha

This is my last week of bulking, going to Cancun in 3 weeks..wanna be half naked for a long as possible haha. Otherwise id just keep rolling on the bulk, i still have plenty of vascularity and my abs are easily visible, just not shredded. The fitbit calorie adjustments are legit I'd say, its been 6 weeks of gaining weight and I havent gotten fat at all IMO

If I don't post on RCF next Monday the 27th, you know something went severely wrong :mf sleep:

Noob here. I'll start with my backstory: I'm 6'3.5 for what it's worth.

In the summer after my freshman year of college, I topped out at 256 pounds, none of which was muscle. My sophomore year, I decided it was time to make some changes, and learned how to diet and cut weight effectively. I found success, but got too fanatical with it, and ended up getting to as low as 173. Woo, weight loss!

I'm currently a senior, and have stabilized over the last year and a half or so in the 185-190 range. I like where I'm at, but I want to build some muscle and get stronger.

I lost weight by simple math and sheer willpower. It was much more about adapting my lifestyle re: eating than anything else. Any exercise I did was about cardio and burning calories. Because of that, I honestly don't even really know where/how to start in terms of getting bigger and stronger.

I'm interested in the absolute basics here, fam. I have access to the student rec center, and I plan to get a cheap gym membership somewhere once I lock down my spot in the real world. What are some good places to start re: easy exercises? What's a good resource to look into to do some routine research for someone in my position?

Any simple exercises I can do at home are a huge help too. I've started doing sets of push ups every day, but I haven't really expanded on that because I'm so uninformed currently.

Love this community. Thanks for any tips you may have!

What are your fitness goals? The quickest, best, most efficient way to put on muscle is through heavy compound movements. Squats, Dead lifts, over head press, bench press, chin ups, rows (or if youre feeling adventurous, cleans) will get you big and strong in a hurry.

here's a great list of lifting routines for beginners via reddit:

I can personally vouch for Starting Strength, but Strong Lifts and Ice Cream Fitness are also great.

there is also a body weight routine, which will by no means give you gains (you've never met anyone with a big chest who only does push ups), but if you just wanna be healthy or you arent strong enough to preform compound lifts correctly, it is a great way to start.

the best advice you can get is this: pick a routine, and stick to it without fucking with it. The routine is made that way for a reason, if they wanted you to superset bi's and tri's, or do abs for 45 minutes, they would tell you to.

you sound like you know how to diet pretty well, congrats on kicking ass on the weight loss!! Just eat more than you spend, keep the protein high, and youll be making gainz left and right.

story time from the gym this morning. im doing some back extensions and this dude comes up to me like "hey man, you're a power lifter right?"

i was like "uhh yeah i guess I am!" (big grin across my face, recognizing the gainz is the best compliment someone can give me haha).

so he had me show him how to bench with power lifting form and he recorded it on video for his biomechanics class lol.

So either ill get this dude an A or ill be on World Star later

He was probably getting some upskirts of you while you were laying down..

I swear if I start seeing an AuxiliaryPie's Plyometrics & Gainz DVD's come out from Beachbody, I am going to murder you.

Am I gonna see you at the marathon on Sunday Aux? Be at mile 14 with a margarita, I will chug it, do a push-up, then keep running. I would probably be drunk I will be so dehydrated.
