Diet and Workout Routines

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Am I gonna see you at the marathon on Sunday Aux? Be at mile 14 with a margarita, I will chug it, do a push-up, then keep running. I would probably be drunk I will be so dehydrated.

probably not haha although the mid-marathon-margarita would be epic

What are your fitness goals? The quickest, best, most efficient way to put on muscle is through heavy compound movements. Squats, Dead lifts, over head press, bench press, chin ups, rows (or if youre feeling adventurous, cleans) will get you big and strong in a hurry.

here's a great list of lifting routines for beginners via reddit:

I can personally vouch for Starting Strength, but Strong Lifts and Ice Cream Fitness are also great.

there is also a body weight routine, which will by no means give you gains (you've never met anyone with a big chest who only does push ups), but if you just wanna be healthy or you arent strong enough to preform compound lifts correctly, it is a great way to start.

the best advice you can get is this: pick a routine, and stick to it without fucking with it. The routine is made that way for a reason, if they wanted you to superset bi's and tri's, or do abs for 45 minutes, they would tell you to.

you sound like you know how to diet pretty well, congrats on kicking ass on the weight loss!! Just eat more than you spend, keep the protein high, and youll be making gainz left and right.

Who the hell works out for any goal beyond looking good naked?

When I have been strict on it really before my back injury, I dropped from around a significant amount of body fat. I think the high fat content keeps you full longer thus lowering the chance you snack/break your diet.

I've been back to total clean eating for a few weeks now and I can already feel the difference in my energy levels.

Yeah that is definitely one of the purposes of eating more fat.

I usually don't eat in the mornings since I'm not hungry, just drink water. But at about 11am I will have a big omelette with butter and veggies, add bacon if I have some. That keeps me full for basically my whole day.
Late afternoon I will have meat or fish and then late evening I will have some carbs with some more meat or fish.
I just eat when I'm hungry and eat until I'm full, and it works itself out. My body just developed its own cycle and I never count anything or weigh anything. Just eat until I'm full.

I wasn't doing any excercise for the better part of my Paleo experience, and lost a good amount of body fat and weight. I recently started some HIIT training and I feel it's working perfectly and I can actually see muscle contour, a thing that didn't happen since I was in boot camp 10 years ago lol

Samezies. I'd describe my fitness goals as a powerlifter who isn't fat

Yeah, but I bet you can't do this like Ruken can...

filmed my squats and OHP today, ill get em on youtube to post here whenever my internet decides to stop taking a shit.

let me know where you plan on being for the marathon (mile marker, etc...) I can let you know what I will be wearing.

I am freaking the living shit out about it. But I have one motivation for it. The Cavs play at 1, so I would like to be in a bar by tip off. Or in a hospital bed. Either one.

tried cutting again last Saturday...felt like shit the whole next day lol. fuck that, imma stay makin gainz.

Well my marathon went well...

Started off hot (just like you aren't supposed to) and ran a good pace for the first 15 miles, thennnnnnnnn, I hit my first wall. Legs started to get sore, could start feeling it behind the knees a little, calves started to tighten. My breathing was fine, actually throughout the whole race. I was never "tired", never out of breath, just legs were a killer. That lasted a couple miles then my legs actually felt fine. Then hit another wall around mile 22-23. That only lasted about a mile b/c I knew how close I was and I think adrenaline kicked in again. Ended up finishing sub-5 hours (goal was to finish in 6hours) b/c of the no training and all :chuckle: Well, I trained but did not run longer than 12 miles.

Here's the shitty part. Since I didn't really train my body properly to take that constant pounding and beating, leading my way to higher and higher miles, my right foot is killllllllling me. My hammies and quads are good now, but I really think I have a stress fracture or something in my right foot. Between the ball & heel on the outside. I am still walking on it, no running, seeing if it will get better, but I feel it is getting worse. I am thinking I may have to break out the dreaded crutches or something.

Would be a big bummer with softball starting up here soon.

dang that sucks man, congrats on the finish time though! I ended up only going to watch the half marathon finishers, i was gonna stick around but aint nobody got time for that lol.

Saw the first full finisher, dude got 2:12 i think? and a woman who was 8 months pregnant did the half in like 3 hours..beast.

a friend who did the half is completely immobilized by her hip after the run, apparently cardio is dangerous haha

Haha, yeah, the people up front just crush it. I was going to do the Columbus Marathon in October but the day before it is the Penn St. 8pm national game, sooooo, I would rather go tailgate and go to the game :alc:

I will probably do the Toledo Marathon again next year but with proper training this time. If my foot isn't better by this weekend I am going to go get some crutches to stay completely off of it for a week.

Anyone have any good uses for kale? I've been scrambling it with eggs, peppers, and a little ham for breakfast. It's amazing. Wanna try and incorporate it into my diet more.

My wife started giving me this stuff a few years ago when she started using a juicer when we were in florida. I always thought juicing was a waste of money, but i can't deny that doing it for a few days felt like a great detox and was a wild energy boost.

A month ago when we went to florida she started making smoothies for us with mixed berries, protein and kale in this Nutribullet thing. Not to be indelicate(and at the risk of giving @Deezus an erection) but this stuff is a roto rooter for your intestines. The first few days i was shitting a ton and i swear it just scrubbed my intestines clean. After that, i was just regular. Other benefits i noticed were more energy, clearer skin and the winter weight i wanted to lose all fell off the 3 weeks we were gone.
