Re: Welcome Dion Waiters

Not sure what kind of truth there is to it, but a coach here in Orlando who is somewhat dialed in to college bball said that Waiters is known amongst other coaches to have alcohol problems. Anyone ever hear anything about this?

A 19 year old kid in college that likes to booze it up? I'm shocked! If people judged me based upon my college life, there would have been a lot worse things said than that. Hopefully, with his new supporting cast seeming to have pretty good heads on their shoulders, this will be nothing more than a rumor and thing of the past.

The person I was speaking with specifically pointed out that it wasn't "just a college kid thing."

Not gonna belabor the point. Was just curious if there was any truth to this.

Re: Welcome Dion Waiters

Might go along with his weight problem.

Re: Welcome Dion Waiters

From Terry Pluto's latest column:

9. The Cavs say Waiters is working hard with a strength coach and knows he's got to be in better condition by the opening of camp.

Re: Welcome Dion Waiters

Dion Waiters (along with Zeller) is now eligible to be traded.

Re: Welcome Dion Waiters

How has Waiters' summer league play been?
Were a lot of you upset over drafting him over T-Rob or Barnes (I assume noone actually wanted Lillard at 4)?
Who would you compare Waiters' game to?
Why doesn't this site like new discussion threads instead of these unreadable 100 page tomes? (don't actually answer that)

Re: Welcome Dion Waiters

^^ yeah serious. I haven't seen a second of the kid. I'm not big on college ball at all but normally scout the top 12-15 recruits every year before the draft. He completely fell off my draft radar for several reasons that all meshed together. I listened to the draft in the mountains and said something like WTH when they announced Waiters at 4. Completely unexpected.

1. Mixed, but showed flashes of some real good things..
2. Yes
3. D-wade mixed with Gerald Wilkins
4. Not sure, I prefer more threads than these long things too.. I end up not reading a ton of posts ..

1) Mixed results so far. But, it's just summer camp. Plus, he came in a little overweight and was apparently overcoming an injury. Anyways, it appears that he's dropped weight since then as shown by pics posted on this site (likely in this thread). So, we'll see how he does in training camp. The one thing he did show is the absolute ability to get to the rim. Plus, a willingness to pass the ball.
2) Wasn't upset. I didn't want T-Rob at all. Though, I will say I did want Drummonds. However, it seemed pretty clear as we approached the draft that they were not going to pick him. Waiters name started appearing in the last week before the draft.
3) Wade.
4) Actually, the problem is that there have been times that they didn't clean up the alternate threads and all we ended up with was like three of the same discussion. There will certainly be times where there are more specific threads. But, we're in off season still for the most part.

Re: Welcome Dion Waiters

The whole idea of organizing a message board in to topics is to make it easier to follow or ignore discussions based on the topic. There's a button to jump to the most recent post in a thread, or you can just jump to the end so the board s/w supplies the tools you should need. Boards that use the "flow of consciousness model" tend to be crap.
