Thing is teams are gonna be leaving him and Varejao/Thompson open the most so they're gonna have the most opportunities. That being said he should definitely take his shots in the flow of the offensive system. Every time he dribbles between the legs and shoots 5 seconds into the shot clock I cringe. This is the year he needs to get his head on straight and stop playing hero ball or else he'll just end up being JR Smith.

But I mean, at the end of the day, Dion is a solid 4th option to have...Hes going to be just fine as well as the rest of the offense.

Defensively Dion has been playing as good or better than anyone else on the team, and at the end of the day, defense wins championships.

lol now Dion is playing hero ball

40 percent of his shots are open 3 pointers. he is averaging 13.5 shots a game in 27 minutes

he is also gets stretches when he is on the floor as the 2nd or primary scorer on the floor.

is he supposed to ask coach for a shot count so he doesnt pass up

I see Chris Haynes is all about manafacturing drama

Hey I'm a Dion supporter I'm not hating on him. But if you fail to see that he still takes a lot of quick shots that disrupt the flow of offense then your letting your bias cloud your judgement. I still like him because of all his intangibles and his talent but he's still a player that needs work.

Preseason guys. Let's see how we feel in Jan. The whole team has work to do. Like LBJ said, Dion will get the critisism if things aren't perfect

Absolutely. It's no coincidence that Dion and others are finding their way right now esp against good defenses like IN and Dallas. When LBJ says it's mentally challenging it is going to take some time for everyone.

Kyrie and Tristan have looked the best and that is because they are just playing their games. Everyone else is adjusting. Playing against scrub teams is going to look great, playing against contenders will likely be horrifying occasionally.

Define alot? you got any stats to support this is on a large sscale? a level that idnicates Dion is a problem . Im disagreeing with the conclusions here BLatt seemed more concerned about why others arent taking more shots as opposed to how many shots dion is taking.

now you have people crucifying Dion because lebron didnt want to shoot the ball.. how is that his fault.

once again in the reguar season i have no problems wih dion taking 12 + shots a game. especially if over half of them are wide open threes.

I also dont believe you can come to an accurate conclusion on whats happening out there based on shot counts. especially in the preseason.

i get it people arent happy with how the team performed at Dallas.. Love wasnt even the game. Lebron didnt want to shoot..

Another game you had lebron and Irving out .

Im not sure how anyone can make a consensus judgement or even make an issue of it.

This is about the frontcourt and the team small forward needing to be more aggressive.
This Dion needs to be put in his place.. Dion is out of control.. Dion better settle down or Blatt will put him down talk is just absurd.

It would be nice if the starters had more than 2 preseason games together before people decide what is a problem and what works

I will certainly point out when Dion is doing something incorrectly but this is being completely blown out of proportion.

I can assure you he will not be leading the team in FGA when we are actually running with a full roster. Will he on a few nights? Sure - Dion is going to be left wide open on a nightly basis. Dion is the benefactor of playing every game while we have a mix and match of stars / vets that are resting. To look into this stat in the preseason is simply a waste of time.

If Dion is leading the team in scoring 10 games into the actual season we can revisit the topic.

I could understand an outrage if he was just flat out breaking the offense and just pulling up and launching from 30 feet.

He's playing within the offense and moving the ball. The ball just keeps rotating back to him when he's wide open or is forced to take a shot because the shot clock is winding down.

With exception of the Indiana game, LeBron has been really passive on offensive and preferring to set his teammates up.

Yes, with the way this team is setup, Lebron will defer more and concentrate a lot on defense. It just is that it is with the way this team is built. I am sure in crunch, Lebron will "take over" at times, but we aren't getting Miami Lebron anymore.

Blatt on dion

"I don't think he should lead the team in shots. On the other hand I don't really care. I just want us to take good shots and make them. But we'll look at it. It's something we really should look at it and we will."

We have quoted this many times. it leaves out the explanation of Blatt expecting Dion to get open shots for the Dallas game due to the zone. It does not however include your interpretation. so please feel free to weigh in on the discussion in context to the quote

Idc if he is chucking

He can do wtf he wants if he's gonna shoot 50 FG% and 40 3PT%

at the end of the day it doesn't matter. I can certainly see Blatt not saying much and using 15-20 games as Dion's audition and then based on compatibility with the program Dion's status with the Cavs will be determined.

There is way too much on the line for this team for someone like Dion not to be on a short leash.

Someone on Twitter said it best - Dion said at the end of the year they will call it big 4 or big 5. The Twitter guy was like " how about worrying more about being called a champion at the end of the year". I don't like this Dion character mind set at all. But he does have talent and ability to knock down shot and change a game's momentum. The problem is, big picture, it is way more important with this team that everyone accept their role than show the world they can break people down and knock fadeaway js in their faces.

I will be surprised if he finishes the season as a member of this team. You cannot have on a team at this level a guy with issues as a starter.
