And by the way, the wish was granted in the second half and Dion played extended minutes w/o Kyrie and instead w/ LBJ. He continued to shit the bed.

And I'm really wondering if his spot shooting last season wasn't an aberration. I say that because the guy is a below average FT shooter. He's 71% for his career and he's below 70% this season. Generally good spot up shooters are going to be above average FT shooters.

I still lol at the people who said he was a good defender

I don't blame him for not being a good defender, he has no good defender traits

slow, chubby, not smart = bad defender

at least be able to shoot

well that is one of very, very few ways to make their perimeter defense even worse...

having that opinion is fine, but if they don't keep him then what? teams aren't going to be beating down the door to give the cavs highly useful players for a guy with underwhelming career development and a likely large contract on the horizon.

it's the same case with dion. people want to trade him - that's fine - but they need to be realistic with their expectation of the incoming package.

I'm just sayin on the roster.. and Harris and Delly playing some perimeter D would be much better.. also Allen's shooting at this point is needed

Is Allen even on the radar at this point?

To me, Dion is a much better playmaker (when that is his initial intent) than he is a scorer. I'd like to see his priority shift to setting up teammates for easy buckets. His finishing at the rim is cringe worthy and his step back jumpers are usually ill-advised and short.

More assist attempts and less shots would really help him and the team.

Dion really is a piss poor finisher at the rim. When you listen to his interviews, you can tell he'll be on his way out before the season ends.

I don't think Dion possesses the mental capacity to play championship basketball. LeBron has even said that himself, although not in those exact words.

Dion's problem has always been his overestimation of his own game.

His talent level is actually pretty high. His game needs a lot of work, shot selection, lazy defense, standing around.

I have grown to like Dion, but I think he's a very poor fit for this basketball team. He's a luxury much more than a necessity, and Dion is always going to think that him getting playing time will be the solution to our problems; yet his game hasn't changed since he was drafted.

Say what you want, but I'd gladly take Ben McLemore instead of Waiters. Waiters might have more ball skills, but Ben McLemore is a hell of a lot more athletic, his jump shot form is picturesque and I can see Benny Mac becoming a true off the ball threat.

Dion is a ball dominant guard, and one that we currently don't need. LeBron has always been a McLemore fan, and Rich Paul is now his agent.

uh

"watch dion waiters stand around the entire possession while the player he is guarding in the corner stands around in the corner the entire possession"

i mean yeah he could have been in a better stance but that's an unnecessarily harsh callout

watch the rest of the video

uh okay, now what? you addressed one particular play and i responded

his critique of kyrie was also pretty harsh as kawhi was in trouble and kyrie had to choose between either covering the wing or the corner - he's kind of damned if he does, damned if he doesn't there

Since his rookie year, I've tried to point out that he's a consistently below average SG on-the-floor, never mind any locker room / off floor issues.

I've said as much since his rookie year as well. But I would grade him at just average/replacement level for the position.

So now he's been cast as this 6th man scorer and defender. But how is he supposed to be this scorer when he can't finish around the rim ? How many scorers are there that can only score one way (via jumpshot)?

As far as defense, he needs to work on his fundamentals, starting with positioning and then scouting his opponent in order to play them accordingly.

Don't blame or get mad at Dion because he's not what you made him out to be.

my dion man crush is waning.. he really isnt bringing a whole lot to the table lately, but the season is young and all that so im not going crazy

i think the only way dion gets into the swing of things is if kyrie goes down to injury, unfortunately

I don't believe that. Waiters has had the ball in his hand plenty of times. If I were as talented as him, knowing I was coming off the bench (likely against a player nowhere near as talented as I am) I'd be driving, dishing and working my way towards 6th man of the year. Instead he's pouting, throwing up any shot he wants, pounding the ball, not really looking for the open guy on the drive and overall just disrupting the flow of the offense. Also doing a terrible job on defense (not that Harris did a better job on Lou Williams last night). You can see LeBron's frustration towards him.

Dion needs to play with Love more. Waiters and Hawes were good last year with pick and pop, they should run this play with him and Love. They need to run play's more with Waiters driving and dishing. Dion is getting the ball late in the shot clock where he has to take these bad step back jumpers
