How do you know that Chris Grant even wants to trade Dion or what offers he has received if he does? How do you know how much the league values him at? Seems your argument is based on unwarranted assumptions.

Say what? It wasn't my argument in the first place -- it was yours:

We have enough 3 point shooting on this team and Dion's potential to be a very effective 3 and D player is far greater than anyone we would net in return.

I was (and am) objecting to your assumptions that Dion is going to be a much better player than anyone we could get in trade. Logic suggests that any player we'd get in trade for Dion would be someone of approximately the same overall value. What would change would be the particular skill set/abilities.

Chris Grant isn't the GM anymore....

It is pretty well known around the league Waiters trade value is pretty low. I'm sure Grant wanted to trade him last season, but he was asking a lot in return for him and he didn't get the trade he wanted.

Grant was known for asking way too much in trades for anyone on the team.

Then exactly what are we losing?

Dion takes the 4th most attempts on the team, is shooting under 40% from the field, and under 30% in 3 pointers. He's a streaky guy, which doesn't work really well when what we need is consistent scoring from the bench.

well my hope is he improves those shooting numbers (like last year when he got hot towards the end of the season) and IF i get rid of him my priority would be to get a wing player in return (unless the big the other team offers is really solid) or at least have a 2nd trade lined up (TPE) to get said wing player. going into the playoffs with no perimeter scorers on the bench would be pretty tough...

it also opens up another hole, we would basically have no scoring off the bench and that's already a weakness with him here.
It all depends on one's definition of what a scorer is. Is it the willingness to shoot, no matter how inefficient?

Well, then Waiters is most definitely a scorer.

Well he was pretty efficient tonight. 21 points on 50% shooting. I'll take that off the bench any day :celb (23):

Shooting 50% in garbage time, are we supposed be impressed about that? That's what chuckers do.

i'm not buying this plus minus stuff. last few games dion has had crummy +/- but at least in the first half his impact has been positive.

i'm not buying this plus minus crap. at least not for the last few games.

this game was lost because our post defense was awful and with our backs against the walls we reverted to iso offense led by lebron and to a lesser extent kyrie.

dion played great offensively. yeah he played some iso but unlike kyrie and lebron he does not force the issue as much and he attacked with the intent to distribute and not with the intent to throw up garbage. he did miss a few layups but when he had the ball in his hands more often than not it resulted in a great drive and kick opportunity.

The defense was everything that was wrong with this game; our guards (that includes Dion) were ass. ATL had enough time to tee up their shot and get enough practice swings in before letting it rip.

I'm just gonna comment on this one thing and let it be.

But there was no doubt in my mind that Dion was going to look good in that fourth quarter. Garbage time, no pressure and no LeBron.....it's like a perfect storm for Waiters.
