Quite ominous what a mod on the Heat board has written.

That's interesting, and it might match-up with what one of RCF's mods said about LeBron wanting certain guys on this team.

It's important to note that teams can't officially discuss contracts with players until July 1st, but we know how that goes.

I soooo enjoy reading that thread and how miserable basketball life has been for them as of late.

I even see a Heat fan sporting a Warriors logo, and his sig saying temporary number 1 Warriors fan.

:chuckle:

They are freaking out over losing their best player, we are getting ready for game 1 of the finals.

All is right in the sports world.

The only way he comes here is if he decides to totally salt the earth and take our mini-MLE.

If they are really disrespecting him that badly with the offer on the table, I don't see him wanting to help them get back anything for him even if it means totally sacrificing.

I'm sure LeBron could come up with a new Sprite flavor like Dwadleberry and make up the difference of what he doesn't get from the mini mle :chuckle:

I don't think the league would be happy if Riley refused to S&T Wade, especially after Gilbert S&T'd LeBron James.

In fact, I don't think Arison would even allow Riley to make that kind of decision.

If Wade said "trade me to Cleveland for picks," Arison would most likely do it to avoid a scorched earth media tour by Wade and James as well as losing the favor of the league, Bosh, and almost assuredly alienating Goran Dragic the one guy they really need to keep.

With all that said, I don't even think Riley wants Wade to stay; I think he wants him gone. With the rumors of them freeing cap space for Durant being leaked by Miami's front office, it sounds like they are trying to prepare Heat fans for the loss of Wade.

Exactly, Riley is freaking ruthless, basically kicking the franchise's best player out the backdoor.

Jokes on them though, why would Durant go there?

Why would he go to Washington besides that's his hometown even tho Durant has said he liked Texas more

I agree that they would be stupid to not sign and trade him, just like we had to eat our spinach and sign and trade LeBron because it was the smart basketball move.

What I was saying though was Wade giving a giant Fuck YOU! to the HEAT for having so little respect for him, and basically just taking even a smaller amount to go team up with LeBron again.

I agree though that I think Riley wants him gone, especially if he's gotten any whiff of an idea that Wade would wants to go play with LeBron. Quite frankly, I think Riley has become drunk with power and only cares about trying to stuff it up LeBron's ass. I mean what else do you call trading multiple firsts for the right to overpay a player that has already peaked? I wouldn't doubt for a second that he has thought to himself multiple times that he'll win another championship before LeBron does, he was just smart enough to not utter that in a published letter.

Riley probably thought he was the reason Miami won those championships.

Notice a possibility is the clippers

A team he's never faced in the postseason

Telling you these guys are competitors

That's why we still in the mix

If Miami wants to keep Dragic, Whiteside and Bosh, and assume that Whiteside will get a substantial deal, they is really no way to keep Wade and go after a max FA in 2016 (assuming a cap number of 89mil). Bosh + McBob = 29.5 mil. If they plan on maxing out Dragic, thats another 21 million, which gets them to 50.5 million. Add 16 mil for Wade, and you are at 66.5 mil. That leaves 22.5, with 11 other roster spots. They need to keep cap space open for Whiteside, since they won't have his Bird rights. Even if you just assume 10 mil for Whiteside, they'd be down 12.5 mil, not counting any draft picks or cap holds. Nowhere near enough for a max player.

So Dragic, Bosh, Wade, Whiteside, 2016 Max player is not happening.

edit - BTW, this was in response to this article. Basically saying they want Wade to opt in for 2015 which will open up flexibility in 2016. Except it does absolutely nothing of the sort.

People point fingers and laugh at the Lakers for overpaying a declining superstar and putting themselves in cap hell, then point fingers and laugh at Riley for not doing the same.

I don't like Riley, but contracts shouldn't be about "thanking" or "showing respect to" a player for what they've done in the past. They should be about what a player can actually do for a franchise in the present and future.

To me, Wade's injury history makes him a terrible choice for a max or near max contract.
