Dwyane Wade Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's not that Wade would take a $10m pay cut, it's that he would force a sign-and-trade to Cleveland or leave Miami with nothing. In that instance, Riley/Arison are faced with the decision to let him walk and get nothing in return, or to simply facilitate the trade and get a few picks and some minimal assets.

And Wade, AFAIK, isn't asking for the max; he's asking for 2 more years at the same pay scale.

Right now he's at $16.1m but with 1 year left; he wants that year plus 2 more guaranteed (he'd be 37 by the end of his next contract).

The issue is, what exactly are we giving up to get Wade in this scenario? I wouldn't want to give up anything significant for a 33 year old Wade, and I don't believe we can trade Thompson, Delly, or Shumpert anyway until December 15th (assuming we re-sign them all). So what are we giving up? Our first round pick this year? If that were all I was getting in return, I'd tell Wade to fuck off if I were Riley.

We'd need to trade $16.2M out to take back Wade at $16.1. That would mean Haywood+... and yeah, you're right, that plus is a bitch.

Haywood + Miller = $13.4 (still 3m short)
Haywood + Miller + Harris .. still short

So, without letting go of any players like Delly or Mozgov, my guess would be that we could sign two draft picks, or a vet min player, and then trade them 30 days after the fact for Wade. We did some pretty funky stuff to get all the pieces to fit with Love and James, and we also had an agreement with the Wolves for Wiggins that we kept under wraps for 30 days.

I'm not entirely sure how it could be done otherwise; but frankly, James may pick one of the Cavaliers players to go out with Haywood and Miller, back to Miami, in exchange for Wade who would become our starting two guard. If I had to guess, that player would be Delly.

Haywood + Miller would work.

Haywood + Miller would work.

I just tried on the trade machine on espn (i know, I know) and it said that teams using the one time amnesty provision to waive a player cannot reacquire the player for the length of the contract.

what on earth does this mean?

In 2010, Miller signed a 5 year contract with the Heat. They amnestied him with 2 years left on his deal in the summer of 2013. So they are not allowed to re-acquire him until after this season. That is why the trade machine is telling you that he cannot currently be traded to the Heat.

Since his 5 year contract would have been up after this season anyways, then trading Miller in the off-season would work (it would be outside the window of his original contract with the Heat).

With that said, I don't think there's any chance we trade Miller. He's LeBron's buddy and I doubt LeBron is going to sign off on shipping him out even if it meant bringing in Wade. LeBron was pretty mad when Miami amnestied him, so it's doubtful he's going to sign off on trading him.

@col63onel always with the cryptic CBA posts... :chuckle:
Sorry.

We can take back 125% +100k of out going salary.

Haywood = 10.5mil
Miller = 2.8mil
Haywood plus Miller = 13.3mil

13.3 X 1.25 = 16.6. So we'd have enough.

We couldn't include Delly in a trade until December.

His old Heat contract expires after this season. We couldn't have traded him to Miami until it expired. Since we are talking about a trade that would occur this summer, his old contract would've expired, so no hangup there.

LeBron would pack Miller's bags if it meant getting Wade in Cleveland.

Maybe if I even knew what that safari even was or even means.
Rick Barry predicted the Cavs to lose then went on Safari immediately. it was essential to counter ricks real safari with a Rick Barry realcavsfans safari to ensure Cavs victory.

so once Rick post his Travel package for the african safari and people goto look it up they will see our thread and think twice before booking their trip through Rick Barry out of fear of the wig.

Quite ominous what a mod on the Heat board has written.

It's actually happening

Do the Clippers have any more money to spend than we do? If not, curious that he'd choose them over us given that he's supposedly such good friends with LeBron. Although I guess he'd probably have a bigger role there.

Think it has to do with his wife/fiancee whatever she is. Actress and all. If he's leaving he'll go to a place that's convenient for her I guess is the thinking.

Its obviously ain't happening but reading Heat fans' reaction would be fucking priceless. I remember how many of them were like, "Haha! Watch LeBron leave you again!" after that whole "Like I said, if we aren't better this year, we're gonna re-unite again and do some bigger and better things, alright?" in the Christmas game. So, watching them react to even the rumours of DWade to Cavs would be fucking awesome! :chuckle:
