Eww. Victor is a Red Sock.

Re: Indians to trade Victor?

I tried so hard to get behind the Tribe this year, and just couldn't do it. I hate feeling like a fairweather fan, but I just feel like this organization isn't committed to winning, so it really makes it hard for me to be committed to watching.

This is not helping.

Re: Indians to trade Victor?

I've read more than one article stating that Victor wants to retire an Indian.

Paying Victor ten million dollars to retire an Indian is my idea of hell on Earth.

That contract will make Hafner's look like a bargain.

Re: Indians to trade Victor?

If we got two of those 3 prospects for Victor I'd call it a huge success. Wont happen though. I'd bet my life on it.

Hmm... the stakes have been raised. Risky.

Re: Indians to trade Victor?

No way they deal Beckham... He's the future at SS there to team up with Longoria to form a dominant strong side of the infield... Uproar in Tampa if that happened...

Perhaps Davis is gettable.. Plus, the Tribe needs to get as much pitching as they can...
The Indians need to get a power bat too..and Half-ner is nothing..I swear I was totally against him getting a big contract just like Wedge..but dangit the suckest guys get the biggest paydays...the ones who actually earn their money get traded away..

Oh, I don't blame the organization for giving Hafner that contract. He had a few real good years but then was injured. You can't foresee an injury. You simply deal with what is dealt to you. I blame Shapiro and Wedge for many, many things, but giving Hafner that contract is not one of them. Besides, he still may do just dandy as no one knows as of yet.

Victor will be traded if not today, tomorrow for sure. Don't expect anything better than we got for Lee as it's not going to happen. But thinking about it; we don't know what we got for Lee as of yet. If it means packaging up players we have received for the trades we made in order to also trade players like Peralta and Shoppach, then good stuff. :)

Re: Indians to trade Victor?

I think it was a mistake..U wait tos ee if the player is consistant ..and he wasn't begging for money..plus he was the only power hitter in the lineup..they needed another..Shrapnol has made some big mistakes..I'm not about to give him a free pass..

Re: Indians to trade Victor?

When hafner has played this yr he has done well. You guys rip them for hafner all the time. Hafner is great guy, good person who got injured and now is finally starting to get back to form. If hafner plays well the next two years what more do you want. Hafner didnt become a bad player HE GOT INJURED. that does not mean it was a bad contract!!!

No you can predict injuries, but when a player is having a down year (compared to the previous 2), just turned 30, and the team has a cheap option on him for the next season, what was the rush?

He will never be worth $14 million a year.

Re: Indians to trade Victor?

No one player in baseball is worth 14 mil, but they give it away all the time.

I don't really care...this is Cleveland, you can't put that money into one guy. If Hafner was hitting above .300 and still belting 35 homers a year, I'd be able to live with it, but he'll never be that guy.

You was one of the very few then because everyone thought Hafner was gonna be great. Did or did he not have like 8 grand slams in one season? The guy was amazing in that year and he deserved a pay day but now he's a below average player getting payed superstar type money.
