Being a decoy is nice but it's not the best option. It doesn't matter if he is on the downside of his career and that he knows his role
Last night in the 1st half he was used as a decoy and didn't even get 1 shot off and was useless on the floor. As soon as he started moving the players started setting screens for him and ran some sets, we looked much much better.

Running sets for him doesn't even have to end in a 3pt attempt. Defenders are going into panic mode whenever he gets the ball off of screen and his excellent passing along with high bb iq allow him to make the correct pass out of plays. It opened up our offense completely in the 2nd half.

I don't see any reason not to run more sets for him.. Obviously he prefers to be on the Cavs rather than on the losing team and I'm pretty certain that he likes it here, there is no question about that, but don't be confused, he doesn't like standing at the 3pt line and do nothing. He is a baller and he knows he can contribute more even at this stage of his career. He hasn't lost that ability.
I have to agree that the trade for Korver seems useless if he's relegated to being a decoy. If you didn't bring one of the league's greatest 3-point shooters in to bomb away from behind the arc, then what's the point? He's a luxury that just about every other team would love to have yet he's barely touching the ball.

maybe they brought him in to help win a championship.

Korver is playing 18 minutes a game and is averaging 4 3point attempts a game.

The guy is contributing and he helps win games...not sure why his acquisition would be considered "Useless" because he isn't starting?

We have 3 guys converting 3 pointers 4+ times a game higher than Korver.

Irving is currently shooting poorly from three but that doesn't mean he shouldn't be taking the shots.

If you look at Korvers per 36 he is attempting threes at the same rate Irving is.
per 100 possesions.

That's cause teams are focusing on him. The Cavs run plenty of plays for Korver. He's basically option number two in the bench unit after Lebron. When they dont pay attention to him the Cavs usually feed him the ball. When they do, it creates so much space.

That was obvious, forget what Zach Lowe says, you and me can point out that much. Korver effected the game as much as LeBron for a period of time.

It was marvelous, his shot was a water faucet, matter fact I don't know if he ever had a nickname, but white water fits the bill.

Splash Cracker

They call Korvers number all the time. Teams are terrified of him and shift the balance of their D to guard him. We have smartly been taking advantage of that with other guys. Game 3, Kyle got a lot of good looks. We found him. He produced. Everything is going as planned with him.

no ,. its was a useless acquisition if he isn't taking 10 3 pointers a game obviously.

We would of been far better off keeping Dunleavy and mo Williams.. how stupid are the Cavs....right

If Korver isn't getting shot attempts it is because the opposing defense has over-compensated to stop him which opens up other weaknesses to exploit. Unless someone wants to say that Lebron and Kyrie are choosing to not pass the ball to an open Kyle Korver. I'm not seeing that. I did see a Pacers team that was terrified of Korver and they were on him like a blanket which opened up other things. The Raptors left him more open hence he got more attempts.

The Cavs offense is designed to take what the defense gives them, whatever it is. It's not about forcing the ball to one guy or another because he's a good shooter.

One more thing, Korver is a fantastic shooter but that doesn't mean he doesn't miss shots or have an occasional off game like anyone else. I do look forward to him and JR burying teams with threes on good nights, same with Channing/KLove/Kyrie/Lebron/shump/DWills 1&2/JJones.
