I don't get this. Do people ignore the possibility that his play is declining simply because they like the guy and his story?

Whaaaaa???

That can't be right? Everyone knows Lue doesn't run plays and sets, he just lets Lebron ISO on every play. Just ask all the people who have Lue avatars, they'll tell you.

Fake BB analysis!

Love it.

And they are the worst of the worst on this forum.

"No system, no sets, no plays, doesn't know his x's and o's, can't use Korver right, can't find useful lineups, isn't talking in 3 second shots on TV so that means he never coaches...

Feels like a job having to dredge through the shit most Lue avi's post.

Back to the topic of Korver, he who Lue can't use right and who we never run plays for or build sets around...he is currently leading the NBA in TS%, and is posting his career high. Better than his figure on that well coached Hawks team that won 60 games and he earned an all-star appearance with.

Imagine if we had a coach who could use him properly!

That’s when they actually run some plays. They only seem to do that when Korver is in or out of timeouts. Other than that it’s lebron pounding the ball. It’s one of the reasons I believe that we have a positive on off with him off the floor.

The bench runs plays. One of the reasons they have been productive. Many benches freelance off of one 6th man type. The bench had been strangely cohesive.

Starters are running plays too. Just they initiate with what LeBron's really good at, in PnRs and ISOs with drive and kicks, and give the appearance of just your standard PnRs and ISOs...but that's not all that is happening this year.

I've seen more off ball movement with the ball in LeBron's hands, or in the hands of Shump, or JR, or Calderon...whoever the hell is the 2nd ball-handler on the floor for us with all the injuries...in 17 games than I have in the last 3 years combined it feels.

People only watch the ball during the game, so they assume if LeBron ISOs or runs a PnR, that's all it is, and there's no play being ran.

We are running actual sets and actions off of LeBron with the starters this year. LeBron will be in a PnR with Love, while Crowder and Smith run pin downs on the weakside, or cut to the openings made by the attention LeBron draws in the PnR. LeBron will be ISOing, and we will run staggered screens with JR coming off screens by Love and Crowder, and he'll walk to the rim for a layup, or have room to step back for an open jumper in 1 on 1 coverage.

LeBron's having an insane start to the season, efficiency wise, and I think it's because we are running more action away from him that takes attention away from him, and he is abusing 1 on 1 situations, which he rarely has seen the last few years.

Sure, we lost Kyrie, who by himself is one of the best offensive players in the game...but I think, as a whole, our offense this year when Thomas comes back will be better than anything we've seen the last few years, because the system, not a player, finally takes attention away from the best player on the planet.

Really, the only time we resort back to previous seasons offenses is when the game is close in the final minutes. LeBron waves off action so he can run a standard PnR or ISO...which angers me, but I understand having the best player making the play at that moment.

I missed the game last night, if really like to watch it, but it appears it is only available on league pass in virtual reality?

Anyway, the improved defense has helped the offense so much. It has been good on the 4th floor maybe 6 games or so, and it looks like everyone is coming around. Really good to see.

I really meant the bench had been much more disciplined in running arts than the starters. Anyway good post

There are some sites that give you full replays. NBAfullhd and NBAhd are 2 I've used in the past.

And the bench relies on the plays exclusively. The starters with LeBron, he will break plays off when he sees fit, which puts a weirder flow on watching the game...but it's LeBron. If he finds himself switched onto a 7 footer or a PG, give him the ball and get out of his way.

You create systems with the hopes that it will be able to exploit match ups and make the game easier. Getting LeBron switched onto a bigger and slower defender, or a smaller and weaker defender, does just that. People will complain that it's not creative or not real offense or whatever...but most teams would kill to have that luxury of being able to run a simple PnR and already create a mismatch in your advantage.

Perks of having LeBron is it's that easy...consequences of having LeBron is it is not pretty to watch, like current NBA basketball is starting to trend towards, so people will complain about it because it doesn't look good.

Who cares if it's effective as hell, it doesn't look good!

This and following posts, all great stuff.

I get pretty tired of the lazy criticisms people stick to, knee jerk judgments after a whole 15 games as though that's what we'll look like in late March, panick trade proposals because we're not going to make it to the finals as constituted, etc.etc.etc.

Eh, he's only shooting 49.6/44.3/87. If he doesn't at least get to 50/50/90, he's trash.

I'm with you. Too much of that, and unlike how it was when I first joined RCF, not enough people calling out their BS takes fabricated out of nothing and getting the quality to rise back up. Too much unsubstantiated shit being tossed at the wall right now, and too many people liking it.

I'm all for criticizing people...this is a forum, there has to be a dissenting side for shit to work. But at least criticize them for things that are actually there, not things that you assume are there because it fits your stance. Too much of that going on.

And to continue on with the offensive system talk...

There's a reason I always laugh at the "Imagine LeBron in _____'s system" posts...LeBron could go to San Antonio, Golden State, Winnipeg, Helsinki, Hangzhou, Auckland, and something will never change...

LeBron IS the system, wherever he is at. Wouldn't matter who the coach is...any good coach, with LeBron in peak form, is going to build his offense around LeBron, because he is that damn good.

I watch other teams have to run sets with numerous passing and movement actions for 18 seconds just to set up a look LeBron can generate by running a PnR, or by ISOing on a switched defender in 4.

And I'm supposed to look at that as a bad thing? I'm supposed to criticize the coaches for that?

I'd much rather praise the player and admire the greatness that I was lucky enough to watch for so long.

Kyle had a funny comment to Allie after the game.. said that playing against LeBron, he was always like “he gets every call!” And now on his side he’s like “he never gets any calls!”

Korver has been great this season. Could almost argue our second most important player so far given the positive impact it has on lebron and his goatly finishing at the rim with korver on the court.
