Farewell to Sergey Karasev

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Sergey Karasev - #10 - the Invisible Shotmaker!

He is 19 years old. NINETEEN. We can wait, yes. But damn, we should just left him in Euroleague to further his development than him going against the same players day in day out.

I think he needs to be a part of our team, playing against NBA talent in practice, improving his communication skills, improving strength, etc, plus i bet he thinks the paycheck is nice.

His age plus being a Euro without even NCAA experience is what is setting him back IMO, needs full immersion into our culture

not attacking you or anything, but as for the bold, hes been at or above the euro level since he was sixteen, its time for him to be challenged by NBA talent

Re: Sergey Karasev - #10 - the Invisible Shotmaker!

Building off what Auxillary said, his father and Kirilenko agreed that he had nothing more to learn on a middle of the pack Euroleague team in a small town. It was time for him to work with NBA strength and conditioning coaches and get challenged socially, mentally, and physically. I really do think his lack of playing time this year isn't indicative of his potential or some kind of mistreatment. I'd like to see him get 10-15 minutes while CJ is out, but I still believe he will take CJ's role next year regardless.

D-League is better for his development. Much more physical game and much closer to what he's going to face in the NBA than the Euroleague. I agree with Keys' point about the coaches getting plenty of opportunities to monitor Karasev's development in practice and in the D-league. They have a much clearer picture on what Karasev is or isn't capable of at this point and time.

Re: Sergey Karasev - #10 - the Invisible Shotmaker!

Sergey must just be complete garbage to not see the court at this point.

Maybe he was a bigger reason Grant was let go than we know?

I can almost guarantee it has nothing to do with Grant getting let go. Although fans want Sergey to play, it was expected before the season that he would get little to no burn due to his lack of physicality defensively. Once he bulks up and can defend better, we will see him play more. Most likely won't be until next year though. Things with Karasev haven't really gone differently than they were expected to, so far.

Re: Sergey Karasev - #10 - the Invisible Shotmaker!

I think my expectations for this guy this year were pretty minimal. Even in summer league, it's not like he looked excellent or anything. He looked like a smart basketball player with some level of potential for a couple years down the road.

His body is nowhere near fully developed either.

Re: Sergey Karasev - #10 - the Invisible Shotmaker!

Lol at the knocks on his physicality. When's the last time a guard actually failed in this league because he was too skinny and weak? And 200lbs isn't unusually light for an SG, even for a veteran. Hell, people didn't think Giannis would even be able to handle the D-League this year, and now he looks like he should've been a top-3 pick. You have to give guys a chance, especially at this point in the season...

He's 6'8" though, if he is average guard size and 200 pounds it's different. Unless they want him to play SG long term he definitely needs to bulk up.

Re: Sergey Karasev - #10 - the Invisible Shotmaker!

The only way to find out if he's big enough to play is to leave him on the bench.

Re: Sergey Karasev - #10 - the Invisible Shotmaker!

Will Barton barely played his rookie year because he looked like a bag of bones. This year he is slowly gaining minutes in Portland because he filled out. Micheal Redd went through the same with the Bucks.

That's just the thing. I don't place any trust in Mike Brown's judgment. The guy has virtually no track record of developing young talent.

He just needs to make himself some gainz

Sure, but Barton weighed in at 174 pounds at the combine...Sergey's got to be at least 20 pounds heavier now than Barton was his rookie year. As for Redd, I think that had more to do with him being a mid-second round pick than his physique.

Re: Sergey Karasev - #10 - the Invisible Shotmaker!

I don't think Karasev is at a physical disadvantage at the 2 right now. He could play there potentially especially against backups. He is like the sg version of Hawes right now with his passing.

Max said earlier in the year that they don't know what to do with him because he is better than they thought. He should get some burn with the team being so short-handed.

He is not a good defender though and gets hung up on screens pretty badly from the little I have seen. I don't know how he can be worse than Jack right now. He should at least be able to provide some shooting and passing.

Re: Sergey Karasev - #10 - the Invisible Shotmaker!

He needs to work on his decline bench and really molest the dips stand... Really pop that chest...

Some skull crushers and tricep dips to in order to make his arms strong enough to release the ball.... Squats, lunges, deadlifts to really make those thighs 4th quarter luscious... (Big time players have big time thighs in big time games)

I would suggest a quality protein matrix blend... Post workout and slow release throughout the day... A German base creatine blend like Beast Creature... Really feed those Bi's, Tri's and Thighs....

If none of this works we can just put him back on a boat and tell him the country is too full... Go home !
