Re: Tyler Zeller: CHOCOLATE SNOW !!!

I think we just discovered the secret to unleashing the bad-ass Chocolate Snow: have him play in front of his mama. Maybe we gotta move her to Cleveland for him....:inlove:

Or the fact that Byron is actually calling the same plays for Zeller that made Varejao so valuable earlier this season. It's all about putting him in a position to be successful.....

Too bad he can't rebound anywhere close to Varejao's level. 3 tonight which is near a number he gets far too often for a 7 footer getting fairly big minutes.

Re: Tyler Zeller: CHOCOLATE SNOW !!!

I still have faith that Zeller can become a solid NBA big man. I still remember when half the board wanted to start Zeller at the 4 and have Varejao at the 5 one or two weeks into the season.

Whether directly related to him or not, once Varejao went down, Tristan really emerged and Zeller started to struggle. Zeller complements Varejao well. Tristan and Varejao are pretty redundant. Furthermore, with a healthy Varejao, Zeller could be the third big man, a role I think he is more suited for.

I think once we have a more complete and healthy team, Zeller will be able to settle into a role best for him. Besides, while Tristan, Kyrie, and Waiters were all top 4 picks, Zeller was 17th. The expectations should be somewhat lower.

The way I look at it is that he is a 4 year player, so he had to adapt to become really good in college. HE is going through the same process now. It is not surprising that he is having a harder time than our top 5 picks, even though they are younger. Really, Dion and Tristan came in with NBA ready bodies. He just needs time. He really needs to work on the jumper and driving and he will live off the pick and pop with Kyrie.

Here is what I think was one of his best games of the year. Out there with Varejao almost all the time. Coincidence? I don't think it is. Had more energy and confidence too. So before everyone writes off Zeller, have a look at what he can do.

Re: Tyler Zeller: CHOCOLATE SNOW !!!

It took a season and a half for Thompson to consistently utilize his skillset. zellers been asked to drop half his skillset to work on the things Scott feels he needs to work on the most.

Zeller was getting really down and mosley got the okay to give Zeller the green light and he played sensational.

The game is still fast for zeller. he is still second guessing himself on the court.. Zeller will have a far bigger learning curve to adapt than Waiters,Irving and Thompson. So im not sure why people have already given him up and pigeonholed him into a bit player.

Re: Tyler Zeller: CHOCOLATE SNOW !!!

I agree. Give Zeller some time and steroids. Just roid rage would be enough. Works for LeQuit.

Re: Tyler Zeller: CHOCOLATE SNOW !!!

Zeller is fucking terrible. Easily my most disliked player on this year's team, and he keeps finding ways to make me pull my hair out.

Re: Tyler Zeller: CHOCOLATE SNOW !!!

Zeller is a huge piece of crap.

0 pts and 2 rebs in 24 minutes today.

Really, he is 7 freaking feet tall and that is all he can manage in half a basketball game against a bad team?

Re: Tyler Zeller: CHOCOLATE SNOW !!!

How about Tyler Yeller? Or Tyler Zero.

Both of those names describe how worthless he is.

Re: Tyler Zeller: CHOCOLATE SNOW !!!

Time to relax people. He wasn't drafted to be the starter, nor was he drafted for what he was going to bring right away. He is a bench big, and when he was actually playing in that role he looked just fine. He looks like a deer in headlights trying to be a 30 minute a night starter. Give him an off season, let him work on his body, strength, and his jumper and he'll be a nice backup C...which happens to be what we drafted him for.

Re: Tyler Zeller: CHOCOLATE SNOW !!!

I haven't given up on him but he needs a lot of improvement to ever be some type of a piece on a possible contender. I just don't see with his personality that he's every going to be a physical presence or play tough inside. Right now I can't stand Zeller and hate watching him play. Says something when even Austin Carr repeatedly questions and criticizes Zeller. Cavs broadcasts aren't exactly known for their criticism.
A question could be raised as to why Grant felt the need to trade up for Zeller if he's only projected to be a career backup?

And backup bigs of playoff teams will still eat him alive...
