Re: 17th Pick - Tyler Zeller

If Zeller was a black guy, people would be thrilled and saying he's going to be a Roy Hibbert. Since he's white, he's Chris Mihm... It's pretty funny really.

And the guy saying we should've taken Perry Jones, Quincy Miller, and Draymond Green... perhaps we should just not pay a General Manager or scouts? Dan Gilbert can just listen to ESPN and look at Chad Ford's mock drafts to make his choices. Disregard character, work ethic, how they fit with the staff and players, etc... If they were popular in college grab them!

I mean these comments are expected, they're just a little sad.

Well, except Roy Hibbert is a legit 7 footer even without shoes and his wingspan is like 7-8+ or something like that and has about 30 pounds on Zeller.

Re: 17th Pick - Tyler Zeller

So..we didnt wanna give up all our picks to move up to #2 to get Beal or MKG.

But we did to move to #17 to get Zeller.

LOL. This draft was a complete and total failure. Not sure how you can see it otherwise. Could have gotten Waiters at 7. Should have traded up to #2 regardless.

You can't judge any draft until a year or two later.

Re: 17th Pick - Tyler Zeller

Come on guys we just traded up for Dirk Nowitzki. Show some excitement.

Re: 17th Pick - Tyler Zeller

I can definitely see Thompson being in the same range as Ibaka, but Zeller will NEVER be able to muscle guys the way Perkins does. Never.

No, but he will be able to space the floor and score. I am sure that is something OKC would like and a reason they played well when Collison was on the floor.

I think people need to stop looking for every pick we make to be a star. You need 1-3 stars and then other players to complement them. We have one star in Kyrie. Waiters has the potential to be one or at least a good 2nd/3rd option. Tristan and Zeller are good complements to Kryie and Waiters.

Also, we still have a lot of future picks to continue to look for another star and more players to complement the guys we already have.

How in the world do you know that those trades were available? I've heard GSW liked Waiters. If we traded back with them and picked up what the 30th pick? Great. That will help.

Have you seen Waiters play? The guy is a beast, can get to the rim, and is so explosive. Then we add a projected top 12 pick that is 7 foot, athletic, offensively and defensibly skilled for basically 2 second rounders. We now have 4 high ceiling players added to our roster in 2 years. Not sure how you could ask for more.

yes, cleveland should have forced the bobcats to make a trade they didn't want to make. they should have offered the entire draft and AV to move up two spots, and if charlotte still said no, chris grant should have started pooping on the bobcat's desk in the draft room until they agreed.

seriously, some people need to get a grip on reality.

What makes you say that they turned those trades down? I'm pretty sure the Bobcats said no to the 5 offers they were entertaining from various teams. And you're looking at it wrong as well. The Cavaliers were going to give up #4-#24-#33 to move up to #2 and get pick #31 from Charlotte back. Which means we would have Beal and some random 31 coming from the draft. With the Zeller trade we traded 24-33-34 and got two quality players versus getting a good quality player in Beal and then some filler who is probably going to fight for a roster spot being in the second round.

Waiters could actually turn out as good or better than Beal. They both shot similar percentages, but Waiters is much more of a bulldog going to the rim. They both had their short-comings. Beal was a freshman and had a great year, Waiters came off the bench and got 24 minutes per game versus Beal's 34 minutes per game. I think the thing that is going to set them apart is who is going to put the work in. I do feel Beal is a slightly better athlete, only time will tell.

I forgot the Cavs get to override any declined trades like it's a video game.

It takes two to tango.

Re: 17th Pick - Tyler Zeller

Lol, everyone in here pretending they like the pick. Yall were talkin shit about the Waiters rumors before the draft, don't even lie about it. You can convince yourselves we had a good draft if it helps you sleep at night--but we didn't. Just pushed the rebuild back 5 years. Not looking forward to the summer of 2015.

People were probably talking because they didn't research Waiters. I did the same thing, but after comparing and looking at video he looks solid. It doesn't make me feel easy that Waiters did not participate in the combine at all, but that's not to say he's not going to work out.

On the flip-side you're totally talking down trading up to #2 when it wasn't our choice. The Bobcats said no to us and other teams on the trade offerings. What more do you want. All you keep talking about was getting #2 when it was a impossibility because the Bobcats weren't giving it up. Who would've you picked at #4?

Re: 17th Pick - Tyler Zeller

3 days ago no one new much about him because Chad Ford, and the other amateur mock draft guys weren't talking about him

After watching the highlight tapes of Waiters, hearing about how highly Jerry West thought him, and the fact that multiple top 10 teams were hoping he'd slip down to them, is it really that hard to figure out why people have come around to him as a player?

Re: 17th Pick - Tyler Zeller

Well, all we can do is wait and see. Let's just say (for now) i expect us to have a top 3 pick again next year.

Re: 17th Pick - Tyler Zeller

Funny how no analysts talked about Waiters before the draft, yet after we draft him; Grant is getting all types of high praise. Let it play out, and see how this kid turns out.
