Fastlane Tonight - in Cleveland!

Re: WWE Road to Survivor Series Thread

I don't know about any of you but I thought last night's PPV was one of the worst this year.
They tried some different things with the Orton vs Cena match but overall I wasnt impressed.
Very exciting Raw build up for a very lackluster PPV. It's almost like the PPV's are only build ups for Raw as opposed to being the other way around.

I'm not going to lie, nothing interested me in the PPV. I didn't even watch it. Much like the last PPV...

Re: WWE Road to Survivor Series Thread

It was not the best, but I do think it was better than some of the more recent PPV's such as Night of Champions, Battleground, Hell in a Cell, and even Survivor Series (not saying alot). It was by default the best PPV since Summerslam, but as I mentioned above... that isn't saying much at all.

I'm glad Orton beat Cena fairly clean. The Fatal 4 Way Tag Title Match and IC Title Match were not bad. Even the Diva's Match was ok. Could've done without the Miz-Kofi and Brodus-RTruth matches, but atleast those even had low build feuds from Raw and Smackdown the past month and ween't completely random. My biggest beef is that the PPV is titled "TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs" and there was only ONE TLC match. No table match, no ladder match, no chairs match. As has been the theme the past few years. Why have PPV's named and centered around gimmick matches if you aren't going to have more than one?! Might as well have just called this PPV Armaggedon, which is what it used to be, or is that term not PG enough...

In the end, would I pay for this PPV? Hell no. Was it decently entertaining for a couple hours on a free live internet stream? Sure.

Re: WWE Road to Survivor Series Thread

If the WWE doesn't have Bryan win the RR and the title at Wrestlemania, they might as well close up shop. Nobody since Austin has gotten the reactions like him, and tonight just furthered it with the ending on Raw. This guy should be the real face of the WWE.

I was hoping for Bryan using the Wyatts to win the RR. Something along the lines of using Bray/Harper/Rowan to eliminate everyone else, then eliminating Bray at the end. Could finish off the feud with a 1 on 1 at EC, then Bryan goes to Mania.

Seems like a panic move by creative. Didn't know what to do with him, so tried to turn him heel, then were shocked that he was still over as a face.

Re: WWE Road to WrestleMania starts tonight!

Final card for tonight's Royal Rumble PPV:

Brock Lesnar vs Big Show

Daniel Bryan vs Bray Wyatt

WWE Tag Team Championship Match:

Cody Rhodes & Goldust (C) vs New Age Outlaws

Royal Rumble Match Confirmed Participants:

-Batista
-C.M. Punk (first entrant in the match)
-Alberto Del Rio
-Big E Langston
-The Miz
-R-Truth

-Goldust
-Cody Rhodes
-Fandango
-Rey Mysterio
-Seth Rollins

I'm hoping they set up a Bryan surprise entrat & win tonight (to set up a match with Cena at WM, not Orton), but in the end, I think they go with the bland predictable outcome of Batista winning & going on to face Orton.

Re: WWE Road to WrestleMania starts tonight!

Someone in the Shield will end up eliminating another member.

Re: WWE Road to WrestleMania starts tonight!

Ugh. Worst Rumble I can remember. Best match of night was on the pre-show and featured 3 Attitude Era wrestlers. They are booking Bryan into the ground. And they got a boring champ for a title match at a PPV.

Re: WWE Road to WrestleMania starts tonight!

Holy shit, I have to see clips of this. *Warning, this will contain who won, so if you're viewing the replay or don't want to know yet, don't continue*

I was following along with Live Coverage on prowrestling.net. For those who didn't see the show or don't know what happened, here's some of the live coverage (2 separate people covering):

Person 1 (Jason Powell):

Randy Orton made his entrance to some boos. John Cena made his usual entrance and received some boos. Lilian Garica handled the in-ring introductions, then a "Daniel Bryan" chant broke out...

3. Randy Orton vs. John Cena for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship The Daniel Bryan chants continued and grew louder. JBL said he's not sure if the fans realize that Bryan was in the first match and lost. Cole said some still see him as the uncrowned champion due to the way it was taken from him. Orton got Cena down and looked to the crowd, which greeted him with Bryan chants and some apathy. Orton applied the side headlock and a Y2J chant started.

There were loud "boring" chants as Orton went to the chin lock of doom, which Cena quickly stood up and broke. Cena clotheslined Orton to the floor and received a smattering of boos. Cena went to the floor and tried to whip Orton into the steps, but Orton reversed it and Cena took a careful bump into the stairs. The "Daniel Bryan" chant started up again.

Cena went for the Attitude Adjustment, but Orton avoided it and DDT'd Cena. A loud "You Both Suck" chant broke out. Cena came back and performed some of his signature spots. He leaned down for the pre Five Knuckle Shuffle bit, but Orton reached up with a shot to end that sequence.

The crowd chanted "This is awful."

...

The No. 29 entrant was Big E Langston, who caught Batista with a clothesline and then everyone settled into battle royal style brawling. "Yes!" chants started. The No. 30 entrant was Rey Mysterio, who was greeted by loud boos and a small "Daniel Bryan" chant. The boos continued as the match went on.

Big E Langston was eliminated by Sheamus with a clothesline. The loud boos continued as the match went on. Mysterio hit the 619 on Rollins, but Rey Mysterio was eliminated by Seth Rollins moments later. There were some cheers for that elimination and then the Daniel Bryan chants started up again. Luke Harper was eliminated by a Roman Reigns Superman punch.

Ambrose tried to dump Reigns over the top, but he held on. Rollins jawed at Ambrose. Cesaro grabbed them both. Ambrose, Rollins, and Cesaro were eliminated by Reigns. Kane emerged from underneath the ring and C.M. Punk was eliminated by Kane. Kane chokeslammed Punk through the Spanish announce table.

The Daniel Bryan chants started up again as the final three of Batista, Sheamus, and Roman Reigns got to their feet. The boos grew as they got to their feet. Sheamus knocked Reigns down, and then squared off with Batista, and the boos from the adult males grew louder. Batista performed a powerslam on Reigns. A loud "No!" chant broke out.

Sheamus performed a rolling senton on Batista and then looked to the crowd and set up for the Brogue Kick. Instead of chanting "Brogue" the fans chanted "No!" Sheamus ended up on the ring apron after a sequence with Batista. Sheamus was eliminated by Roman Reigns.

The match came down to Batista vs. Reigns. Cole framed it as the young gun against the six-time champion. There were cheers when Reigns clotheslined Batista to the mat. He set up for the Superman punch and the crowd responded with a loud "Roman Reigns" chant. Reigns went for the punch, but Batista caught him with a spear.

The fans booed as Batista performed his pre-finishing routine. When Batista turned back to Reigns, he ended up taking a spear. Reigns looked to the WrestleMania sign in the rafters. Batista ended up grabbing him and tossing him out. Roman Reigns was eliminated by Batista.

Batista won the 30-man Royal Rumble in 55:10.

There were loud boos from the crowd and Cole told viewers that it was Batista's second Rumble win. Cole noted that Reigns eliminated 12 men in the Royal Rumble match and broke a record that stood for 13 years. In the ring, Batista stood on the second rope and pointed to the WrestleMania 30 sign in the rafters and then pyro went off. The fans booed as Batista posed to close the show...

Person 2 (Chris Shore):

3. Randy Orton vs. John Cena for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. A "Daniel Bryan" chant broke out, followed by the competing Cena chants, then back to Bryan. Orton got heat early as Pittsburgh thought it was the night after Mania and hijacked the show. They chanted for several people and Orton played to them a little. He hooked on a chin lock and the crowd chanted "boring."

Cena started the five moves of doom to heavy boos. Orton kicked Cena when he did "You can’t see me" and hit his power slam for two. Cena came right back with the half-nelson neckbreaker for two. Cena lifted for the AA again and Orton again reversed, this time into his backbreaker.

A "This is awful" chant broke out as Orton intimidated the ref in the corner. Cena popped up and hit an AA for a nearfall. Cena pulled Orton to his feet and Orton hit an RKO for two. The crowd chanted "We want Divas" and Orton posed for them. The announce team tried to cover as the crowd trying to get into Orton's head. It didn't come across as believable.

...

The crowd chanted for Bryan just before the countdown and Rey Mysterio was number 30 and the crowd rained boos on him for not being Bryan. Seriously, the crowd turned HUGE and began to boo the whole match. Holy shit. Pittsburgh is pissed. I looked up and Langston was rolling across the floor. Big E Langston was eliminated at 46:39.

Rey was eliminated by Rollins to a big cheer. Rey Mysterio was eliminated at 47:30.

The crowd shit all over Batista and cheered for Reigns. Reigns setup for his spear and the crowd hated on it as Batista did his stomp at the ropes. He turned around and Reigns hit a spear that the crowd popped huge for.

Powell's Reaction:

Powell's POV:
If you think the crowd was tough tonight, just wait until the WrestleMania if it's Randy Orton vs. Batista. This is one of the most stubborn, pigheaded moves I have ever witnessed WWE make. Seriously, get a clue. Sure, they could still call an audible (not getting my hopes up), but the fact that they didn't see this reaction coming or somehow justified not going with Daniel Bryan entering, let alone winning, the Royal Rumble is just insane.

And Shore's:

Shore's Slant:
I really don't know what to say. Pittsburgh will forever be my favorite wrestling town now because they literally begged for something new from WWE and were denied. The total lack of reaction to Batista winning, coupled with the complete shit storm Orton and Cena had to endure, should be a watershed moment for WWE. Alas, I don’t think it will.

I really hope Cleveland continues with this tomorrow.

Absolute travesty that this went down as predictable as it was & with the crowd as outspoken against it as they were...

This WrestleMania crowd will absolutely SHIT on Batista vs Orton...

Don't get the Batista push? He blows.

Re: WWE Road to WrestleMania starts tonight!

Wyatt and Bryan was the best match.

Cena and Bray will be a solid WM match.

As for the Batista travesty. You know its bad when Rey Mysterio is booed. Unless WWE is setting up for Bryan beating Orton & Batista, theyre kicking themselves in the dick.

Also didnt like HHHs boys winning the tag titles. Thats a waste.
