Ferry's Grade at this time

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
i think people are confusing issues here. Ferry's grade and the team gade don't necessarly go hand in hand in my view. a GM can assemble the best group of talent on the plant but those guys still have to go out and get it done on the court/field/diamond. see the New York Yankees.

for Ferry i give him an A to this point. he improved the talent level on this team by leaps and bounds this offseason. could it have been better? of coarse but remember it wasn't for a lack of trying. they did go after Redd, Allen, Yesawhatevericavic but they went for more cash. still this is an on-going process and i think it is better to give him an incomplete until we see where the team is a few years down the road. will he draft well, can he contiue to find ways to upgrade the roster? all questions to be answered.

as for a team grade i think a B is a fair grade for a team that is 17-10. they have been inconsistant from time to time but i think that has to be expected with as many new players as were brought in. we have seen how well they can play hopefully when they haven't reach their full potential yet will gell and play that well all the time.

Exactly, on Ferry so far, I think hes done a pretty good job getting personnel together. You really cant complain about the players we got and how the cap money was spent. As far as things like team performance, that one is more up to the players and the coach than the GM.

I do wonder how things would have played out with Flip Saunders. He seems to be handling Detroit pretty well. Though if you stuck Mike Brown in Detroit, Im sure he'd be doing well there too. Also, the coach was a Dan Gilbert call, not a Danny Ferry call.
