Four Team Deal Sends Howard to Lakers

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor (Dwight says he'll re-sign longterm in LA)

Orlando always wanted Bynum, they just couldn't get the Lakers to take back any bad contracts. That's why all these third team are starting to come up in rumors.

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--m...-target-in-potential-dwight-howard-trade.html

http://www.slamonline.com/online/nb...ndrew-bynum-in-potential-dwight-howard-trade/

The end of the day I'm thinking it will be a direct trade between the Lakers and Magic.

That's part of the problem. Orlando wants to have their cake (acquire Bynum & draft picks) and eat it too (dump bad contracts without surrendering any picks).
LA dumped all their picks for Sessions & Nash, so they really have nothing, other than Bynum, to trade.
Cleveland would want either Bynum, who Orlando wants to keep, or picks to take back with a bad contract or two.
Orlando & Cleveland want the same thing, so I don't see how we do business together.

Don't believe either comment right now although both might have some merit..just be patient and see what happens.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor (Dwight says he'll re-sign longterm in LA)

We have Toronto's guaranteed lottery pick for 2013. If it's not between 4-14 it goes on to the next year with continued protection from being late lottery.

We also have Dallas' pick that is top 20 protected so they can only give us the pick if they are a top 10 team (not going to happen). Then it's Unprotected in 2015 which will be good since they are rebuilding.

Wrong sir. See below.

Cleveland
2013 first round draft pick from Miami
Miami's own 2013 1st round draft pick to Cleveland (top-10 protected in the 2013 Draft, top-10 protected in 2014, and unprotected in the 2015 Draft.) [Cleveland - Miami, 7/9/2010]

2013 first round draft pick from Sacramento
Sacramento's own 2013 first round draft pick to Cleveland (top-13 protected in 2013, top-12 protected in 2014, top-10 protected in 2015, top-10 protected in 2016 and top-10 protected in the 2017 Draft) If Cleveland has not received a first round pick from Sacramento by 2017, then Sacramento shall convey their own 2017 2nd round draft pick to Cleveland provided it is within the top-55 picks. If it is not, then Sacramento's obligation to Cleveland shall be extinguished. (Cleveland-Sacramento, 6/30/2011)

2013 first round draft pick from L.A. Lakers
Cleveland has the right to swap the least favorable of their own 2013 1st round pick, Miami's own 2013 1st round pick (top-10 protected) and Sacramento's own 2013 1st round pick (top-13 protected) with the L.A. Lakers own 2013 first round pick (top-14 protected). If the L.A. Lakers own 2013 first round pick is #1-#14, then the L.A. Lakers' obligation to Cleveland shall be extinguished. [Cleveland-L.A. Lakers, 3/15/2012] (I call BS on this, I still havent seen anything from Cavs saying its protected)

2013 second round draft pick from Orlando
Orlando's own 2013 2nd round pick to Cleveland. [Cleveland - Orlando, 6/23/2011]

2014 second round draft pick from Orlando

Orlando's own 2014 2nd round pick to Cleveland. [Cleveland - Orlando, 6/23/2011]

2015 first round draft pick from Miami

Miami's own 1st round draft pick to Cleveland in the "First Allowable Draft" (top 10 protected until the 2017 draft at which it will be unprotected in the 2017 draft). The First Allowable draft shall be the draft that occurs two years following the year in which Miami satisfies its first obligation to convey a future first round draft pick to the Cleveland Cavaliers. [Cleveland - Miami, 7/9/2010]

No picks owed

Houston
2013 first round draft pick from Dallas

Lakers ( top 20 protected in 2013, top 20 protected in 2014, top 20 protected in 2015, top 20 protected in 2016, top 20 protected in 2017 and unprotected in the 2018 Draft). [Dallas - L.A. Lakers, 12/11/2011 and then Houston-L.A. Lakers 3/15/2012]

2013 first round draft pick from Toronto
Toronto's own 2013 1st round pick to Houston (Top-3 Protected and 15-30 Protected in the 2013 Draft, top-2 protected and 15-30 protected in 2014, top-2 protected and 15-30 protected in 2015, top-1 Protected and 15-30 protected in 2016, top-1 protected and 15-30 Protected in 2017 and unprotected in the 2018 Draft. [Houston-Toronto, 7/11/2012]

2014 second round draft pick from New York
New York's own 2014 2nd round pick to Houston. [Houston-New York, 7/11/2012]

2015 second round draft pick from L.A. Clippers
The L.A. Clippers' own 2015 2nd round pick to Houston via Toronto (if pick is 51 - 55). If the L.A. Clippers' own 2015 2nd round pick is not among the 51st through 55th picks, then the L.A. Clippers' obligations to Houston shall be extinguished. [L.A. Clippers - Toronto, 1/7/2009 and then Houston - Toronto, 7/28/2010]

2015 second round draft pick from New York
New York's own 2015 2nd round pick to Houston. [Houston-New York, 7/11/2012]

Picks Owed
2013 first round draft pick to Atlanta
Houston's own 2013 1st round pick to Atlanta via Brooklyn (top 14 protected in 2013, top 14 protected in 2014, top 14 protected in 2015 and top 14 protected in the 2016 Draft). If Atlanta via Brooklyn does not receive a 1st round pick from Houston by the 2016 Draft, then Houston will convey their own 2017 2nd round pick and cash to Atlanta via Brooklyn. [Brooklyn- Houston - Los Angeles Lakers, 12/15/2010 and then Atlanta-Brooklyn, 7/11/2012]

2013 second round draft pick to Atlanta
Houston's own 2013 2nd round pick to Atlanta (Top-40 protected in the 2013 Draft, top-40 protected in 2014, top-40 protected in 2015 and unprotected in the 2016 Draft.) [Atlanta - Houston, 7/14/2009]

This is the ammunition as far as assets that Houston and Cleveland can offer.

Houston does have that nice Toronto Lottoery pick, but crap after that. Their own pick is lottery protected until 2016. Which means they cannot trade their first rounder in this trade. I still doubt they make the playoffs based on the strength of the West, and their disaster of a roster. The Dallas pick they own can go either way, but isnt too much better than the Heat pick, if they actually get it. They also do not have 2nd rounders until 2015.

We have all of our picks. We could offer a protected pick in some manner for 2013, the Kings pick (although its more of a long term investment), and a Heat pick. Not to mention we own the Magic's 2nd rounder for the next two years. We could send them back to them. They will help facilitate some improvement via draft pick, or moving up. The last piece we could send them is the LAL trade rights. That will bump their Heat pick up atleast a few spots.

As far as space goes, were at roughly the same $30-32 mil because we have Davis to count against the floor, but not the cap. They have the Kevin Martin expiring at 12 mil, but we have Luke Waltons at 6 mil. Walton not only could be bought out, but he doesnt add any value to any competitive team in the world, let alone your basketball team. We have the expiring of Cool Hand Luke. We also have Azubuike & Samuels, who are both team options that could be terminated immediatly I beleive. Buike is past his 30 days, and I believe he could be traded again.

Houston is dumb enough to probably take on more horrible contracts than us, while giving up a decent prospect in Lamb (Jones and Donte cannot be traded for 30 days. If I am correct, both signed their contracts). But we offer them cap relief, and picks they can use for themselves. The ycan do the hw and find guys to fit their system. Not players that were drafted by someone else.

They have a sligh edge on cap releif, but our unused draft picks + willingness to take back some salary should be of greater use, without us having to give up one of our prospects.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor (Dwight says he'll re-sign longterm in LA)

Jason Lloyd:

http://www.ohio.com/blogs/cleveland...lse&utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed

From David Lee (Andrew Bynum's agent):

"I've had zero conversations with Chris Grant," said David Lee, Bynum's agent. "I would imagine any team involved in this trade would be smart enough to talk to us."

Cleveland was listed in a recent Yahoo! Sports report by Adrian Wojnarowski as a potential destination Bynum would consider in free agency next summer, but Lee said he had no idea how the two were linked.

"I am often puzzled as to the basis of an article. I am particularly puzzled with that one," Lee said. "When I read it, I was in Alaska with Andrew and his family. I have no clue who (Bynum) could have been talking to. I was taken aback by the list, considering there is nobody in anybody's camp he could've been talking to. I have no idea where that came about."

Bynum's agent sounds like he's in denial that his client may be talking to Woj's sources behind his back I'm guessing.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor (Dwight says he'll re-sign longterm in LA)

Celtics to acquire G Courtney Lee from Rockets in a sign and trade sending back F JaJuan Johnson, sources tell Y! Details being finalized.

Courtney Lee has been shopping around and finally landed in Boston. Johnson will count around $1.1M vs the Rockets cap. Hollinger says other non-guaranteed contracts must be coming back to Houston.

I know. Thats why I pointed out the actual stipulations of the Dallas pick that Hou owns. The only valuable pick that they have is the Toronto pick.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor (Dwight says he'll re-sign longterm in LA)

Houston cannot facilitate anything, he won't play their. No organization, unless run by David Kahn, would be so stupid as to give up everything it has for a player that has repeatedly told them he has no interest and won't play their. Orlando is pissing away any leverage they have by delaying these trades. He will leave for nothing if they don't do something soon. If I was Howard, I would have said trade me within two weeks or I won't agree to sign anywhere and I will leave for nothing. These organizations gave up control when they instituted free agency in the first place, which ruined league fairness in every sport, so stop being stubborn and trade him.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor (Dwight says he'll re-sign longterm in LA)

Interesting.....so they save $2 mil in cap space for upcoming season and can terminate his contract next year with a team option. Any reason to look any closer at this deal from the Rockets perspective?
