Four Team Deal Sends Howard to Lakers

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

Have read through every single post in this thread. Trading for Bynum without an extension would set this franchise back for years if multiple first round picks are involved and bynum leaves after one "empty" year. No thanks. Stupid move if so.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

Two things I wanted to discuss right now. For starters what is on Houstons roster besides the three rookies they drafted this year? Let's be honest is chandler parsons, Patrick Patterson, and Morris really that good of prospects? Let's say Houston has to trade all three of their rookies in this deal, what the hell do they have to sell Dwight Howard on...Jeremy (the two week wonder) Lin? This is just assinign on Houston's part.

Secondly, Houston would be in the same position we are when it comes to taking on the Magics bad contracts. The rockets are not going to take back Richardson, duhon ect without a Dwight Howard extension and as we all know this is not going to happen no matter where he is traded to. Even if the rockets do trade for Howard and take back the bad contracts they will not give up as many picks/prospects as Rey would if it was straight up for just Howard. Honestly I just don't see any end to this ordeal in the near future and if I'm the magic gm I'm probably waiting for Houston to cave or the nets to be able to get back in on this.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

The idea of this thread still being open in September is down right terrifying

I don't think that is the case. I think Orlando has visions of Grandeur in the scenario. (Hypothetical here:) I think the only way a deal gets done is something like this (using Cleveland as an example)

Lakers get Howard
Cleveland Gets Bynum, Jason Richardson, Hedo
Magic get Cavs pick (unprotected), Waiters, Zeller, TT, the Lakers pick and 2 or 3 picks in the next couple of years.

The Magic want picks and cap relief. That would entail dumping some longer term contracts such as Hedo and Jason Richardson. They would want back younger players in return (ie Waiters, Zeller, TT and a bunch of picks).

I think one of the sticking points with Houston is Kevin Martin. Even though he is an expiring contract I don't think Orlando wants anything to do with him and would want Houston to take on 2 additional bad contracts for Bynum or Dwight.

If someone came to the table with 4 young players, 3 draft picks and were willing to take on 2 bad contracts the deal would be done. I think that is what Orlando will hold out for.

Listening to Yahoo Radio this Morning. Howard Camp has told Houston.... I have no Interest in your franchise. Houston is debating if they really want to give up all their assets for Bynum. Also, they need to wait for the Asik situation to settle.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

Agent: Howard won't sign extension
The agent for Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard refuted reports that his client has decided he will sign an extension with the Los Angeles Lakers -- if traded to them.

"Dwight's position has remained unchanged since the end of this past season," said Dan Fegan of LaGardere Unlimited. "He fully intends to explore free agency at the end of next season, regardless of what team trades for him, including Brooklyn."

Howard
A source said the Nets never insisted Howard commit to an extension as a prerequisite for acquiring him, which Nets president Billy King confirmed in a text message.

Howard told the Magic, according to GM Rob Hennigan, he would like to be traded to the Brooklyn Nets above any other team. The Nets made concerted efforts to strike a deal for Howard earlier this month, but were forced to stop when the Charlotte Bobcats threatened to sign their restricted free agent center, Brook Lopez, to an offer sheet.

Lopez was expected to be a key part of any deal with the Magic and signing an offer sheet could have preempted including him in any deal, depending on the terms of the offer sheet. The Nets then signed Lopez to a four-year, $61 million deal.

Since then, the Lakers have become the primary suitor for Howard, recruiting both the Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers as potential third-team participants to deliver the salary relief, draft picks and young talent that Orlando is seeking in return for their All-Star center.

The longest Howard could sign an extension, according to ESPN Insider's Larry Coon, would be three years, in either an extend-and-trade or after joining his new team.

If he waits until his current deal expires, Howard would be eligible to sign a new five-year deal for as much as $108 million.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

If that happens things will be downright ugly. I had heard on ESPN that if he were still on the roster he would just sit and receive DNP-CD's until traded.

Due to his back surgery, he's going to be in street clothes at the start of the season regardless of which team he's on.

Howard with more noise

Agent: Wherever Dwight Howard lands, he'll be an UFA next summer. Doesn't mean he won't re-sign, just no promises.

Hey Dwight; just shut up... you have literally handled this like a bitch from day 1... New Jersey has no cap space get over it!

Embrace LA and you will get your money. Just please keep you mouth shut super bitch!

I think the best thing for Orlando is not to trade Howard but DNP coaches decision all year and then let him make a deal and do a sign and trade.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

I've very much enjoyed reading this thread for the last couple of weeks, so thank you all for your information. I think if we can take anything out of this, its that the cavs are in a good position to make a trade for any player that may be available. I think that bynum would be a fantastic piece to add to our team but we have to put this in perspective. I think we all have to take a step back and realize what this means in the grand scheme of things, which is that we have the resources to compete with any team for any player. Another thing that should be taken into consideration is that our picks are (in theory) depreciating by the season. I would not be surprised to see a big move made at some point during this season.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

Hey, If I scored a date with Blake Lively i'd try to get an assurance she'd bang me.

If she said no, I'd still take the date though

But in the process you'd be losing the assurance to bang 2 babes that are still pretty hot.

And if she doesn't bang you then you won't have be able to have sex for two years.

Thought I'd edit the situation to perceive the consequences as well.

and next year, the CBA kicks in effect where they can only sign and trade with teams under luxury tax

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

The way this offseason is going, with Kyrie out with broken hand and Waiters nursing a sore knee we could be headed to the top of the lottery again. If Bynum is traded here he may look at the talent around him and say I am not resigning with these guys. Forget assurances, no deal with Bynum unless he signs a contract, remember what Boozer did to this franchise. If we really want Bynum then sign him as a FA, I know chances are slim, but so are the chances of Bynum resigning after a trade.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

Who is going to be under the cap at the end of the year including those who could do an amnesty?

At this point who cares. You have to add some major talent at some point or we will continue to flounder around in the lottery like the Clippers.
