Four Team Deal Sends Howard to Lakers

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

Again, I'm a Rocket's fan. I'm talking about Dwight.

I don't understand why your GM would want Dwight so much if he shows no interest in staying there? He just overhauled your roster to make room for him, but now it's filled with mostly rookies and second year players. He did all of that for what could be a one year rental.

Please read my previous posts. Dwight has not stated he has no interest in staying in Houston. He obviously wanted Brooklyn, and he probably prefers LA to Houston, but if he gets traded to the Rockets those teams will be off the table for him.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

Sorry to break it to you kid but Bynum ain't no superstar. Star maybe and I think that is stretching it.

if 2nd team all nba at age 24 isn't a superstar or even a star, your definition of the terms are perhaps too restrictive (or are looking at irrelevant things off the court like marketability).

1st team: Paul/Kobe/LeBron/Durant/Howard
2nd team: Parker/Westbrook/Bynum/Blake/Love

Include the guys 1st and 2nd team the prior two season, which adds Wade, Carmelo, Dirk, Amare, Deron Williams, Nash, Rose, Pau Gasol.

Regardless of the term used, who else on Bynum's level do we even have a remote chance of getting to pair with Kyrie (who we expect to reach that level)?

He has stated he has no interest in playing in Houston.

The Rockets, meanwhile, continue to ignore the long-standing rumblings that Howard has no interest in committing to Houston long-term and would threaten instead to just play out next season and head to free agency in July 2013 if Morey does manage to complete a trade for him.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

If Dwight was okay with being a Rocket, he would already be one.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

No, he hasn't. find me a quote. If you are going to blindly believe all "reports" coming out of various teams' and agents' camps, LeBron would be a Knick and Dwight would be a Net.

Do you actually believe Dwight would come out and say that to the media? He says it behind the scenes. If he said it directly to the media, he would be hated even more than he already is.

If Dwight was okay with being a Rocket, he would already be one.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

See Dwight has all the power if he goes to Houston. You really think Houston would call Dwight's bluff he he said he go to Dallas with out the 5th year? Hell no they would trade him and try to grab a few firsts like cavs did from Miami.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

Got this from a realible poster from a lakers board, TIFWIW:

I had posted some stuff I had heard from a relative who works within AEG not too long ago. The info was verified legitimate, so I got a few more nuggets last night. Believe or not believe, I'm still willing to share.

-Lakers were THIS close to acquiring Howard a week and a half ago, until Orlando changed the terms and tried pushing Hedo onto LA at the very last minute. It really irked Jim Buss, who proceeded to give call Hennigan and give him a "verbal assault", from what I was told. Supposedly there's pretty much an unsaid "code" that goes along with trades and more importantly, "trade protocol" that teams stick to, and the fact that Orlando's newly minted GM had the audacity to bypass the "manners system" really infuriated Buss. Word is he handed Henn his lunch, much to Kupchak's chagrin.

-After that blow up, Orlando then changed their "wants" yet again, now focusing on wanting to get cheap expirings, rather than a proven player, along with multiple picks & cap relief. But the rumor was, they still indeed wanted the all star, AND the picks, cap relief, salary dumps, etc. That scared away EVERYONE, including Atlanta, and even Dallas(as if they could even muster a package to begin with), leaving the Lakers still there...and Houston. Word is, without the Rockets in the picture LA would've already had this trade completed, but now they're being leveraged against the Lakers.

-Howard vehemently does NOT want to play in Houston, period. Regardless of contract length incentives by staying with them, Dwight WILL get outta there after the lone season he'd have to play for the team. Morey knows this, and although nobody really knows what he's doing( some GMs and front office people around the league joke that it'd take a "rocket scientist" to understand the guy), his play might be to just muck things up..and maybe get either Howard with the inherit risk attached...or Bynum. One thing I know for certain, is he will NOT gut the entire team for either player.

-Cleveland really, really wants Andrew Bynum. They've been very proactive in trade talks, not resisting being the catalyst for LA to get Howard. They see it as a means to an end in order to pair up Drew along with Irving. They're absolutely in love with that prospect.

-Bynum is receptive to signing long term with either Houston or Cleveland, leaning more toward the Cavaliers. The rumors bug him, but he's certainly used to them and it doesn't make him very upset. He likes that he's wanted.

-Buss has definitely wanted to walk away from talks on numerous occasions, but Mitch has stepped in to calm the situation down.

-One last thing, I hear the Lakers will stay over the cap and will actually add if necessary these next couple seasons, to maximize Kobe's final opportunities to get more rings.

Man writing this on my phone totally was a chore.. well just wanted to let you know what I heard.

Why would he re-sign with Houston, when he badly wants out of Orlando?

Small market, bad team. The same complaints he has in Orlando.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

Bynum would of course be a great addition, but it would not be terrible if this trade does not happen, as he is not a truly ideal Princeton Offense center.

Bynum can bang down low like no other player in the league, but Coach Scott's style of offense needs the center to be able to hit an open jumper and pass the ball effectively out of the post. Although he claims he can stretch his shot out to the three-point line (yeah, right), he doesn't have a good 10 foot jump shot. The passing aspect is not as big of a deal, since his size should allow him to get it to an open man when the double comes.

Bynum is a beast and he would definitely succeed on both ends of the court for our Cavaliers, but if this trade falls through, it won't be the end of the world.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

All superstars want to go to a big market. Except for maybe Jeremy Lin, who isn't even a proven superstar yet.

The Houston area is the 5th largest in the country, behind NY, LA, Chi and Dallas, and one of the fastest growing. Orlando is 26th, just ahead of Cleveland. source

Difference between market and city.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

The way Dwight sees it is probably like this:

LA: I can go to a star studded city and play in a championship environment with Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash. Once Kobe retires, I can take over his throne. The Lakers will take care of me.
Brooklyn: I can go start another super-team with Joe Johnson and Deron Williams in a city that just got their NBA team back.
Houston: I can go meddle around with a bunch of rookies and second year players for a year and see how that goes. Oh yeah, there's Jeremy Lin too.
