Four Team Deal Sends Howard to Lakers

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

Yeah along with the Magics reputation and Multiple bogus or smokescreen rumors. However It Is fun talking and getting Into these fun times on RCF this summer. Quick someone find a Tweet with a wild rumor to feed our posting needs!
I am sure if The Bullshit Whisperer drinks enough beers he will re-tweet his classic "sides have agreed to the framework of a deal" :chuckles:

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

The problem is that its not so much about ridding Dwight as it is shedding the loads of bad contracts the Magic have. Letting Dwight walk in FA because you didn't get a "great deal" leaves you over the cap with scrubs like Turkoglu, Richardson, etc. That would be a disaster for the Magic.

Not to mention the fact that your draft pick will probably be around the middle of the draft, with no extra picks you could have for trading him.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

I thought Orlando was being smart, using one offer to leverage it against the other team. Nope, they're just stupid.

We were lucky to get the TPE that we didn't use because we were blindsided. If we knew he wanted out, I think our FO would have gotten a good package for him. Orlando can get something of value for him, but I feel like they're not going to get any better offers than what we've been hearing about. I just hope the NBA doesn't do what they've done twice already in terms of the #1 pick.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

To be fair, this is just one report that says they "might" not trade him. I wouldn't be so quick to jump on Hennigan just yet. Broussard could just be reporting because there's nothing else to talk about, and if a trade goes down, he can say that he said "maybe."

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

If you guys believe Hennigan, I have a bridge for sale. When I posted that "It's Bullcrap!" picture, I meant that Hennigan is full of bullcrap. Orlando needs to move on from this Howard situation before he poisons the well.

Re: Three-Way ORL/LAL/Cavs Rumor

I just don't see how any reasonable GM would fall for this bull he is putting out. Let's face it, Dwight is gone, of this drags into next season I don't see the lakers messing with their team if off to a hot start. I still don't see why Orlando would even want to trade with the Nets. If this guy is really from the Thunder line of thinking he needs to have a fire sale and blow this team up. I mean looking at Houston, Dwight makes no sense for them, he will leave, with the likes of Dallas and Atlanta with cap room he would give up that year or threaten to, to get the sign and trade. The deadline is really the drop end date, as after then, no team over the cap can receive a player via sign and trade. I think the options are down to the Nets in Jan. ( stupid move) or the lakers now with either the cavs or Houston being a third team.

I'm not going to presume to know what Morey plans to do once he gets Dwight, but I doubt the plan is to have him and a bunch of guys on rookie contracts. Also, sign and trading him is most likely off the table, since he can only earn as much as he would signing outright with another team, and teams over the cap can't receive players in a S&T. The new CBA forces players to walk away from A LOT of money if they want to play elsewhere. Deron was the first max player to test free agency since it was signed, and he stayed put. I wouldn't be so sure that Dwight will walk away from the money either, especially when all the big market teams don't have the cap room to sign him.

I agree that it's important for Howard's agent and Bynum's agent to get them to teams they can live with going forward, since it's hard to imagine they won't follow Deron's lead, play out their contracts, and sign for a boatload of money with their same teams. After June 2013, S&T's are going to cost them too many millions, most teams won't be able to accommodate them since they'll be over the cap, and they by and large won't get to pick a team of their choice at that point. Houston is taking a risk if they land Howard, but his choices may be very limited after this year's trade deadline. Maybe Orlando's shenanigans will go into the season, which would be a PR disaster that at least would be entertaining, but it is hard to see it not getting taken care of before then when looking ahead. You would think there would be some especially juicy Rockets rumors by Weds.

Someone, I think David Aldridge, posted that the biggest $ free agent to change teams this year has been Ryan Anderson.

Because an over-paid Brook Lopez would be 'the centerpiece' of the deal? :dunno:

It makes some sense but also lacks it.

Odds are they can't get an offer they want since of his contract expiring at the end of this year and his stupidity saying he won't sign anywhere except Brooklyn.

So I expect a S&T next summer, maybe with LA if bynum leaves.

In the same sense, its moronic because its delaying their inevitable rebuild an entire year. But who knows of these offers were legit

Like it was said above, he can not be sign and traded to a team over the cap next summer. He is limited to sign with Orlando, or take less money with another team. Maybe Orlando is calling his bluff, saying if you want to leave, leave and lose millions of dollars and the 5th year.
