There are quite a few experienced DCs on the market.

The Pagano brothers, Steve Wilks, Vance Joseph, Jim Schwartz’s contract is apparently up after the year.

May be able to get someone who has head coach experience on top of that to help with Freddie’s transition.

Of those guys, my easy choice would be Vance Joseph.

Chuck Pagano has had bad success on defense and employs a rigid, inflexible 3-4 scheme.

Steve Wilks doesn't utilize defensive personnel all that well. He has been trying to adjust to the pass-heavy offenses of late and as such will stubbornly keep 23408234 DB's on the field while the opponent runs the ball for 500 yards each quarter.

Jim Schwartz prefers a very simple, conservative scheme. Doesn't like exotic defenses. Relies HEAVILY on the 4 D-Line generating pressure. While this has had success when the d-line is extremely talented, it has failed significantly when the D-line was subpar or average, or suffered from injuries.

IMO, Vance Joseph is the best of that group. He likes to bring exotic blitzes and wants to get after the quarterback. It's not too unlike Gregg Williams but I think Joseph does a lot better at disguising his blitzes. He generates a lot of unblocked pressure on the QB - something 3G didn't have happen all that often.

Can only speak on Wilks.

They started 3 safeties in the base package with a 34 year old free safety playing in the box (over Buddha Baker, who is so much better of a tackler). He had Hassan Riddick playing a lot of coverage, and in the middle way too much. Outside of Chandler Jones, no one really got pressure because he likes to blitz to go even, not to get a freeman. The Leftover defensive talent is only reason why they didn’t go 0-16.

Is Kitchens going to be hiring the assistants or is Dorsey?

Too beat teams with running qb's, you are starting to see defenses start 3 safeties and remove a linebacker. I would love to try this as Peppers is literally the perfect Safety for us to move him to linebacker and put him in the box in a monster back type of role. \

Our defense should have been much better, and after the offseason and draft that will most likely focus allot of improving our defensive talent, I expect the new coordinator is going to have allot of fun toys to play with.

One example is 2 years ago Myles go his first sack on his first play at defensive tackle, not end, but you hardly saw us move Myles around or play him at tackle? Why? Flip our line some. Have our tackles play end and have them set the edge, while use our ends up the middle to create pressure up the middle and make the qb even more uncomfortable. It worked on Myles first play ever and then we went away from it? Stupid.

Kitchens, thus no one was fired till Kitchens was hired.
With all these firings it makes me wonder if Kitchens thinks he can do better or didn't get along with his coworkers.

Is Kitchens going to be hiring the assistants or is Dorsey?

I imagine it will be a collaborative process where the front office makes recommendations and Dorsey leverages his connections to get people in touch with Kitchens, but ultimately Kitchens gets to decide.

@The Oi you have any porno puns with Baker/Kitchens

Freddie was not an original Hue acolyte. So that may have been an issue.

Also you figure Chase is going to follow Gregg to whatever team he gets hired as HC.

If Wylie is the price to get Amos out then so be it.
