Game 1 | Cavs (0-0) vs Knicks (0-1) | October 30, 2014 | 8pm EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
My observations:

6. Lebron was terrible in pretty much every facet of the game. He looked very slow and unathletic and lazy on defense. There were rumors out there about his back problems could be getting worse and tonight could definitely back that up.

I didn't even think of the back spasms. That could explain it, because for a large part of the game Lebron looked stiff and lifeless and his explosion was not there at all. He also wasn't that aggressive off the dribble.

That's something definitely worth monitoring.

Alot of miscommunication and bad timing. Everyone seemed to want to get one another going. In time we will be fine. Not worried.

Things that do worry me:
Lebron played 43 minutes
Bench was a non factor
Rumors of AV getting offered a 3 yr 30 mil deal (F that)

I hope there isn't something wrong with LeBron. Haven't come to that conclusion yet, but he looked identical to his preseason performances which were equally as shitty.

I would actually prefer that Blatt experiments with the line ups at the early stage of the season and discovers what works and what does not.

It sucks that we could not win the home opener but that is alright.

Seeing the turn out of fans on ESPN right now (I know) anyways they seem to just relish the fact they are something haha. Great day for the city and I think any fan knows this is the start of what could and should be a journey to a ring. I loved seeing Cleveland show up on ESPN like they did. Day over and you could tell the team and Bron was drained from the day. I feel Well now today we will see the real Cavs show up.

My observations:

1. Cavs have no business losing to this Knicks team that was basically Anthony, JR Smith and a bunch of end of the bench players. No excuse.
2. Cavs defense was extremely lazy tonight. How many wide open jumpshots for the Knicks tonight? Several times their guys would just be standing there like they were shocked they were so wide open.
3. Cavs were dominated on the glass by Knicks after the 1st quarter. Inexcusable.
4. Didn't See much improvement on the offense which mainly consisted of overdribbling and sloppy passing.
5. Cavs bench is scary bad and could be their undoing this year. Especially when you put it up against their competition's like Chicago.
6. Lebron was terrible in pretty much every facet of the game. He looked very slow and unathletic and lazy on defense. There were rumors out there about his back problems could be getting worse and tonight could definitely back that up.

Next 2 games are tough and I can definitely see them losing both. Could be a struggle for a while but in the East it's not as threatening.
Cavs are 1 of the deepest teams in the league.. Delly,Marion,Miller, and TT are as good of a second unit as any.. don't let 1 game fool you.. that statement is just asinine to be honest.. we only played 8 guys tonight for a reason.. Miller and Haywood will get more run as will Harris and in the future Allen if he comes

Thought LBJ would start out flat but not the entire game, the turnovers are what are surprising.

Were they going to go 82-0? No. But I thought they would beat a Knicks team who just lost in the blowout the night before. No one really wanted to be the one to step up, they all wanted to follow James. I get it, the emotion of the night gets the better of you.

Am I disappointed? Not really, its game 1 of a long season with a completely new team. These guys have to get used to each other and no when to pick up their game when another guy is having an off night. I will admit, early on Love looked like he fit right in. That open shot to start the game was a thing of beauty.

New team, new coach. Excuses aren't needed.

I sure hope tomorrow against Chicago, they get into an offensive flow. I sure hope that lack of defense doesn't come up against the Bulls. You need to put up points to beat them.

I'm smart enough to realize this isn't that big of a deal. I'm upset because tomorrow I have to go to school with a bunch of people who will pathetically attempt to act like they have even a moderate understanding of the NBA/Cavs.

It's just too much work dealing with all the casual fans :(

Haha right. I am just happy to see such a awesome show in Cleveland and finally become something. As for the Cavs the Heat started off horrible their first 10 games or so. Any smart NBA fan knows these things take time. The day if over and LeBron looked beat from all the pre-game craziness. On to the next Good luck with your classmates :chuckle:

Let's see where the team is in a month before we start worrying. The Heat started off 9-8 and then went on a tear I believe. There were several lost possessions tonight due to players simply not knowing where other players were on the floor.

Honestly, the first game tells us nothing. Were we poor? Yes. Were we overwhelmed? Yes. But the reality is, when this team starts to figure it out in a few months from now, LeBron won't be turning the ball over 8 times and we will rarely be losing a battle on the glass.

To be honest, I'm more excited/proud about everything the lead up to tip-off. The expectations were through the roof for this game - everyone was confident we'd beat the Knicks. That sort of complacency blended with the overwhelming emotions of the return of LeBron and the new look Cavaliers got the better of them. Sure the Knicks made some great shots and got some pretty easy calls, but mostly the Cavs were awful. And given the hoopla surrounding the first game of the season, you can somewhat understand why.

Nothing left to see here, folks. On to the next week. Tomorrow = a huge early test. Guaranteed we'll be learning something completely opposite about our team this time tomorrow - as will the players themselves.

I see way too many people overrating our bench on here. Sure its 1 game and it doesn't mean we wont make the finals. But honestly I think its 1 or 2 pieces away from being on a championship level. Marion and TT can be solid. Miller is a wild card and when he doesn't hit his J that game he is useless. Blatt doesn't seem to want to play him much either for some reason. I think he might be trying to save him for the playoffs (good strategy). Delly is a solid back up pg nothing more or less. The Spurs, Bulls, Warriors and Clippers all have better benches. There are prob a few more out there too that I don't feel like looking up
