2nd night of a back to back on the road, 2nd best player out, best player sick, Chicago's D always gives young teams fits. And of course they hit all their damn 3's against us. Forget it and move on to the next one. Won't even remember this game come February.

Yikes! We're not very good. But, um......it's a process? One of the worst offensive teams just dropped a 100 on us. The worst team in the NBA took us to OT in our house. BUT, both games played w/o our second leading scorer. So, I don't know what the fuck to think about this team.

Biggest problem right now is fixing the defense. Our defensive "guru" has to figure out something besides double-teaming scrubs.

Chicago played without 4 of their top 6 players, including their 2 best. Both PG's and starting SG.
They were 1-7 in their last 8 games averaging 83 pts a game prior to this.
Stop with the flipping excuses for this team.
We should have won this game and we were blown out. We had no energy because we were too busy last night playing down to our competition.

Zeller looked good out there. Directing the defense and he gave problems to Boozer and Gibson who couldn't deal with his length. He is underrated as a defender because he was so weak in the post. His defensive awareness is really high and he had a block and a charge. He also hit a 20 ft jumpshot. He is actually the best option to start next to Bynum out of him, Bennett and Clark.
Maybe he can't play pf, but I don't see why not. He is plenty fast enough, and he knows where to spot up. He would take those jumpers that TT won't. I much prefer him over Clark because of his defensive smarts.

Couple of things I notice with the defense. The hard show/ blitz the pick and roll defense will not really work with our team as currently constructed. We have small wings and not so agile big men. That type of defense that MB wants requires athletes flying through rotations which we don't currently have.

Could you please stop listing having one player out and one guy sick as an excuse when the teams we've played the last two games had, what, 9 rotation players missing combined? They still came out and played.
Look at the standings. We're right in the mix for potentially up to the 5th seed. We need these games. In April we could be kicking ourselves for efforts like this when we're playing the Heat instead of the Hawks or Celtics in the first round, if we make the playoffs at all.

He ran it with Drew Gooden and Ilgauskas. This current group just isn't comfortable yet to instinctively know where to go. Either that or they just don't care.

The only comparison that we need to see is the Orlando series. Most teams today are constructed the way Orlando was. A plethora of shooters to space the floor. You can see it in San Antonio, GS, Portland, Miami, OKC. Those type of teams will give this MB defense fits.

On a positive note, the central division is garbage and the Cavs have time to figure things out. Bynum looks to be getting better every game. Not sure what else to take away from games like these. Let's just hope for some improvements by seasons end.
