Good hard fought win tonight

I love watching this team...

Wish I could have gotten the Rockets broadcast tonight, cause if they're anything like this on a regular basis, it would have been hilarious...

I wonder if he feels that same way about Artest :chuckles:

"Did Mark Madsen's rib cage collapse?"

I gotta admit, that's a good one.

" Oh boy, the ole' flop !!! "

:chuckles:

Great win. The late fourth quarter threat though, to me shows that we really need a solid contributor/scorer/defender for Wally's contract and we can be a tough, tough team.

Ya, definitely a great game! I got to see it in person, in town for the holidays. It got a little scary for a bit in the 4th, we shouldnt have given up that big lead, but the best thing about this team is that pretty much anybody can turn it on for a stretch. Boobie stepped up and they got it under control. This team is dangerous, i'm not worried.

Great fun to see Z hit a 3 in person, and that Lebron block was rad, he went hard

related, here's Yao getting blocked by Nate Robinson

Well, I don't know where Real_Talk's thread about Houston being the real test went too, but Houston certainly did put up a great fight in spite of McGrady looking completely out of it.

Ultimately I think they did run out of gas as the game went on and predictably all the jumpers they were nailing earlier in the game stopped falling and their D wasn't as sharp.

So I stand by what I said in that thread, by winning we were just doing what we're supposed to do (taking advantage of home court and a dinged up and exhausted opponent).

There also doesn't seem to be any buzz about this game, albeit if we lost I'm sure there'd be plenty of pundits calling us pretenders the next day.

Are we better than Houston at full strength on normal rest?

For now you'd give the Cavs the nod, but it hasn't been demonstrated on the court.

They definitely present some unique challenges.

It looks like Real_Talk got banned, and that thread deleted.

Adelman and McGrady both said afterwards that it became clear pretty quickly that he had nothing left for tonight's game. The only guys who had it going in the 2nd half were Alston (first game back from injury) and Yao Ming (barely played till the 4th).

I agree that the game didn't really "test" much (under the circumstances of Houston tiring) but it was a high-intensity, entertaining game. And it gave the Cavs the opportunity to go against a high quality defense yet still score nearly 100.

Don't forget we were up by I believe 12 pretty early in the 4th. If we would have brought LeBron back in at that point I don't think Houston ever gets it down to under 6, and certainly not down to 3... I think if this game was at Houston or in the Finals, MB leaves LBJ in there to insure that we keep the lead by a more comfortable margin. He did that in the Denver game, IIRC.

Sure, but Houston would have the luxury to play their starters more in the playoffs, too.

Brown does leave LeBron in road games much more often than home games (because they can be closer and because he wants to stabilize things and keep it close). He did leave LeBron in against Denver.

To play devil's advocate, if Brown had left LeBron in at the start of the 4th tonight, they might not have gone on that run. :)

Yep. I was going to mention that the Cavs were up by 7 when LeBron sat, and were still up by 6 when he returned. Keeping the double digit lead would have been nice, but the bench bunch did a great job of holding on to the lead while getting LeBron a break.

Houston's 15-2 run extended well in to the period that LeBron was back on the floor as they reduced the lead to just 1pt.

Fortunately like we've seen so many times happen to the Cavs in the past, there's seemingly a limited number of runs in a tired team and that was it for the Rockets as we closed out with a 13-4 run.

This is a good team folks, Yao presents some unique problems, a big, passing center that can shoot. He's like a young Z, not as much range but definitely more of an inside game. McGrady can be a beast, but he got shut down this game, but he can take over a game like Lebron. Rafer is a solid point. They got two very good perimeter defenders in Battier and Artest. Scola is one of the few big guys in the league that hurts us on the big man roll, being quick enough to beat our rotations, very similar to AV and ironically, South American. They even got bench equivalents, Brooks is a 3 point shooting guard like Boobie, Brent Barry is their slow white vet that can shoot a la Wally.

What a fight of a game..
Interesting..I understand why the matchups were as they were..Z on Scola and Wallace on Yao was interesting..but the Cavs didn't use Z effectively at first.
We have to learn how to adapt to sudden adjustments other teams make..like the zone the Rockets threw sudenly..
It was a great win..the physical aspect is what we needed to show what we're made of..
Of course that crap RT was doing was uncalled for..
Houston is one of the few teams out west I like..
The Cavs responded and before you knew it they were up by 14..
