Game 32 | Cavaliers vs Bulls Jan 2nd, 7:30PM (ET)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
JJ played an excellent game, his rotations on defense were solid, he didnt look lost and his offense is just an added bonus. He still needs to go up quickly rather than doing the power dribble, and stop pump faking, but his offensive skills are very advanced for a young big man. Even though he didnt make the shot that spin move of his is vicious.

He is playing very well...he is ROY so far.

IMO Mayo has played better and more consistent. Rose will go out one night and and drop 20 and 10, and the next night have a game like he did tonight.

His footwork on offense needs some work too, he travels a lot after he takes that power dribble. He did that tonight but the ref bailed him out with a foul.

He might be averaging 17 points but that doesn't mean he's playing well.

Right, he's playing terribly.

Rose is ROY, hands down. Mayo is doing good, but I don't think he's proving anybody wrong. Pretty much everyone with NBA knowledge knew he'd be a good player in this league.

I didn't say he was playing terribly, I just think he's been too inconsistent. Don't get me wrong he is going to be a heck of a player, I just think Mayo is playing better IMO.

Both Mayo and Rose have exactly the same number of games scoring under 10 points, two.

Both guys have turned the ball over the same number of times, 88.

OJ Mayo's assists: 97
Derrick Rose's assists: 195

Rose shooting percentage: 47.4
Mayo shooting percentage: 45.3

Sure, Mayo's scoring average is higher, but he's doing it at the expense of the rest of his team. I know points are the things that people like to pay attention to, but Rose has been better in just about every other aspect of the game.

All I have to say, is I knew that last loss would refocus these guys.

i cant wait to see camacazee's neet-o stats of the night after this

Haha, it was a busy one that's for sure. I had about half of it written up in the 3rd, then what the... Everyone just kinda started going off, so I had to revamp it a bit.

Anyways, a very good win tonight. If you would've told me before the game that with no Z, and LeBron only scoring 16 points, that the rest of the cast would combine for 101 points I would've told you to gtfo. Then again, this is the same defense that allowed LeBron to torch then for 41 points twice earlier in the year :chuckles:

Dude was the only player that impressed me both games versus us earlier in the season. I don't know if you recall, but he averaged 18.5 points, 8 assists, 2.5 rebounds, and 1 steal against the Cavs in those 2 games. Good numbers for a young rookie against a top 2 defense. He'll definitely be something special in the future, probably the best player from that draft in retrospect, if not this year.

You might think that if you only watched him against us but...dude is averaging 17,4 and 6. He's a stud.
He reminds me of Marbury when Marbury was a rookie...

He freezes the ball, and his teammates freeze him out in return...

I can't help but see the potential in JJ Hickson. Tonight he truly shined. His statline per 36 minutes would've been: 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 blocks. However, he also would've had 10 fouls per 36 minutes :chuckles:

When this kid learns proper defensive rotations, schemes, and stances to keep him out of foul trouble, he'll be fantastic. Of course, it shouldn't be that hard of a task with Mike Brown giving him an earful in practice and veterans like Ben Wallace making sure he learns the defensive side of the ball. When that happens, look out.

At least with Z out an extended time, the cavs can give JJ minutes without feeling too guilty if he screws up a little. It's his PT to lose. Hopefully in a months time hes a solid 4th option for mike brown. That will be useful come playoff time.
