Game 32 | Cavaliers vs Bulls Jan 2nd, 7:30PM (ET)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
IMO Mayo has played better and more consistent. Rose will go out one night and and drop 20 and 10, and the next night have a game like he did tonight.

you got it wrong as the Bulls think they are a playoff team so when Rose goes through a rough stretch, he gets benched. While when Mayo goes through a rough stretch, he gets a chance to play through it. The Grizzlies have no expectations, therefore they play their young players no matter what. The Bulls do therefore they play who is hot at least in the coaches opinion. Tonight Rose simply couldn't play defense. Mayo is bad defensively too almost every game. He would hardly play for the Bulls given how they substitute.

One interesting thing is some people have wondered if Rose is playing too many minutes and is hitting the rookie wall by being worn out. Mayo plays heavy minutes too but I haven't seen Grizzlies fans voice concern for Mayo possibly hitting a wall.

Nope.... ^That's the worst post of the year considering it is the only 3rd day of the New Year.

No, it was pretty weak to call out Rose when the rook is lighting things up. He had his worst game of his career so far against us. That makes sense since we are an elite defensive team and he's inexperienced. And based on the stats you were (for lack of a better term) schooled with, you had ground to stand on with your statement.

Well why you guys are basing your opinions off strictly numbers, I'm looking at the intangibles, things like shot selection and orchestrating the offense. But I guess I'm not allowed to voice my opinion or, God forbid, go against the popular consensus.

Bron's blocks are getting way more exciting than his Dunks

I can't help but see the potential in JJ Hickson. Tonight he truly shined. His statline per 36 minutes would've been: 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 blocks. However, he also would've had 10 fouls per 36 minutes :chuckles:

When this kid learns proper defensive rotations, schemes, and stances to keep him out of foul trouble, he'll be fantastic. Of course, it shouldn't be that hard of a task with Mike Brown giving him an earful in practice and veterans like Ben Wallace making sure he learns the defensive side of the ball. When that happens, look out.

I was at the game, he actually didn't look bad on D tonight. There were a couple of foul calls he had that I thought were BS and mostly because he is a rookie, and we were crushing chi-town (mercy calls).

He got called on a couple of blocks, at least 2 of which were obviously clean. I'm not being a homer, they were just terrible calls. He also got called going for a loose ball out of bounds, when Sefolosha hit him and knocked him out of the way to shield it. This one probably could have gone either way, but I thought it was a bad call.

That's 3 of Hickson's calls that I thought were bogus, I thought most of his problems came on offense. He is so afraid of getting his shot blocked that he pump fakes when he doesn't even need to and he'll put the ball on the floor when he should just go up strong, that's something he'll learn with experience. He also needs to watch his fancy footwork, he travels a lot.

I see a ton of potential in him, he has mad hops, really long arms, and he's crazy strong. With some experience he is going to crash the boards, be a shot blocking machine (because of the impeccable timing he already has), and be a really tough cover on offense.

Don't forget about the 2 quick fouls Mo drew on Rose which caused Rose to sit the entire first quarter.

They already are. Used to be I'd watch Bron on the fast break and think "that's gonna get dunked".

Now I see LeBron on the other side of a fastbreak and I can always predict "that's gonna get blocked".

LeBron needs to mix up his dunks. Lats night he was wide open and still did the usual tomahawk.

Shot selection and running an offense? Aren't those things that get better with age? Rose will learn better shot selection as new scenarios come his way. And running an offense isn't easy for a rookie. How can you attack a rookie on something like that?

I get your opinion, it's just ridiculous to call the kid a bust even though he's doing great.
