Game 36 | Cavs @ Utah | Friday January 10, 2014 9:00 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Dinosaur plays center these days. You know, that prototypical shot-blocking 7 footer that everyone needs...

missed the game.. where can i watch it? and no, i dont have a league pass. :D

That's pretty spot on.

If someone can find me a power forward who can really stretch the floor, rebound at a high rate, and defend at an above average level, I'd love to have him. I don't really see that guy available.

Well, Bennett, if you were able to transplant a different brain into his skull.

Dude could rebound and stretch the floor, if he didn't defecate in his shorts every time he got the ball.

In fact, he's actually rebounding pretty well, even though he defecates in his shorts once the ball is actually in his possession.

Miami has the best player in the entire game. If you're trying to use them as the basis of your argument, fine. Just don't leave out the part where the team has to go out and find a freak like LeBron.

Yes, Dwight and Noah are good all-around players. They're also guys that get most of their buckets closer to the bucket (Noah steps out, but people really don't respect it). Rich, you know the point that is being made, but you continue to just ignore it.

In the case of OKC, that team goes to a whole other level when they move Ibaka to the C and KD or Collison to PF.

Sure, you can win without a floor-stretcher. But the main point Rchfld, and I guess myself now, are making is that it is incredibly difficult. You're essentially going out trying be the exception, rather than the rule. It'd be one thing if Tristan was some low-post savant, but he's not.

That said, you still have to start him until you can find a better option.

The whole Tristan thing is silly. If you wanted the spacing you could just start Zeller with Andy. They play great together and Zeller has been money with the 15-18 footer all season. No hesitation, splash. We already have the guys on the roster you needed if it were even a problem. Trade AV and picks if you have to to get whatever you want, but we have Tyler who can shoot and he appears to have grown balls and learned to rebound. I totally agreed about the spacing probs with Bynum and TT, but it is way overblown now that Bynum is gone.

No one is ignoring it. It's an area of his game that he lacks. But I'm not gonna trot out some loser of a player just because he has a somewhat more reliable jump shot.

My argument is with the notion that a power forward being able to space the floor trumps all other things that a power forward can and should bring to the table. If my choice is between a guy who can only do one thing, stand still and shoot 3s (like, say, Earl Clark or a lot of other bums that are available every offseason) and Tristan Thompson, I'm going be starting Tristan Thompson every time.

Are people really on Tristan after he just went 9-12 from the floor with 18 points and 15 rebounds?

That's not what I'm saying. Not sure how Earl Clark keeps getting brought up.
