Game Thread | Game #11 | Cavs @ Kings | Nov. 9, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It never doesn’t suck watching one’s team play like crap, while getting ass-jacked by the refs, at the same time. That will never ever be enjoyable.
I wouldn't disagree. Also nothing in my posting was bullying or begging people to have enjoyed tonights game or thought tonights game as a howdy doody fantastical time.

Vibes lately are that the last two games = the season to date and likely the season to come.

Was Garland out when we had that momentum in the fourth?

No, he picked up 3 assist during the run. He was subbed back in with Love at like 8 mins.

The momentum stopped when Donovan replaced Love and Daruius, Levert and Donovan all tried to close the game together

One of them ended up on Sabonis on like 3 plays in a row off switches because the Kings are smart enough to take advantage of our 3 guard lineup

Are the other 16 players in the NBA 36+ mpg all also going to break down too or just Mitchell?
There's a big bucket of guys playing between 35-36 as well.

Last 8 games. You don't find those minutes totals problematic? Not to mention how often he's violently attacking a packed paint trying to create something out of nothing. It seems like all season he's having to split two defenders on the perimeter and then euro step around or leap through two defenders in the paint.

Garland played like shit

No contending that

But there's a pattern of one of the 3 always playing like shit when the other two have it going.

There's no contending that

It's not his fault that we're starting 3 ball dominant guards. And requiring one of them to be a 3-D guy standing in the corner and waiting for his turn to initiate after standing in the corner.

If you ask him to stand in the corner if Caris hits his first shot, he's going to force it. He looks like he looked when sharing the backcourt with Sexton again. But this time, there are two ball dominant guards on the floor starting with him instead.

As always, you know I respect where you are coming from and in a weird way, love that we are talking about a loss in real time. Why? We all grow from a loss if we talk it through.

I'm now all in on this triple back court, and I wasn't originally. Starting LeVert with the All Star Duo didn't lose us this game. If anything, LeVert cleaned up some mistakes from our starting guards.

It's only the first week of November, more or less. Let them feel this thing out. Why? Because it should work on the defensive end... And it is!! The problem is offensive, and that just takes time.

Okay, Keys out. This was a fun loss, if that exists.

What’s the reason Stevens and Diakite can’t get some more early season burn? This team needs some grit on the perimeter on the defensive end.

And/or more time on the floor together is needed.

It's game 11.

DG was pure garbage tonight! And tonight proved my point why Mobley could never be an Alpha! He let Barnes take him right out of the game! That boy needs to put on major pounds!
Tonight proved that Mobley will never be an alpha? That's an ambitious take.

I want to know what fear mongering is in this context :chuckle:
Mitchell's body is going to break down.

Lauri where for art thou

Garland regressed to sexland Garland.

That's just a few.

I like Garlands shifty prancing style, don't get me wrong, but when there is no urgency, it is pretty easy to defend, resulting in dead possessions after the dreadfully slow walk up. It works in the P&R game to poke and prod, but otherwise late when you need a bucket the shot is not there when defended by taller players. There needs to be less hesitation and more directness with this play. The offense is too bogged down, and once again we didn't feed the hot hand... another self inflicted loss. It is very correctable.

Levert, Mobley and our sharpshooting trio of Love, Wade, and Cedi need to keep bringing it to weather the storm. Mitchell has done way more than enough to give us the wins.

I chalk this up to road scheduled losses. Home court advantage, cough refs, cough, is often a greater force than we realize, and it's slightly less our doing and more out of our control in close games. Gotta break it open before refs can influence.

ALways love, my brother

Theres a reason Levert looked good tonight and it was at Garland's expense. The same reason why in the two games Garland produced, Levert looked like shit

Both of them defer to Donovan, as he is the purest scorer. He's gone eat. The first game that all 3 look great as starters, will be the game where one of them has 10 rebounds and makes a bunch of defensive stops.

Basketball is a sweet science. Ball dominant guards can share with each other, but not with three of them on the floor at the same time. Jason Terry would have started for that championship Wildcat team if that was the case. One is going to adjust his approach to the game to contribute in other ways and we cant expect him to just turn back on being a primary initiator mid game after approaching the game like Bruce Bowen.

Enjoy your night

It's game 11.

Find me a team with 3 ball dominant guards starting who gelled over time and started contending at this level, and I'll shut up for the night

I'd assume the other guys averaging 36-39 minutes all have a majority of games that look like that as well. Would you not assume that as well, for them to have that high MPG average? Do you think those other guys are playing 48 on night and 24 the next. Or a dead even never varying 36-37 every single game. Is what he's doing that much different than what almost every star player/best player does for their team in non blowouts?

He got some rest at the end of the third and the break between the quarters. Fourth quarter contained several timeouts, 22 FT's between the two teams, a long coaches challenge and a short breather at the 6 minute marker for Mitchell.
