Game Thread | Game #12 | Cavs @ Warriors | Nov. 11, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I did not catch the game, but it's odd how quickly people turn on young players that are learning to gel.

This so well beyond the reactionary takes that I expected from a game thread. It's just pure panic.

Over/under on how many games it’s going to take Garkand to figure it out?

It’s not THAT common for a supposedly star player to come back and kill the team 3 games straight. That’s a bad look.
What is also uncommon is for that scenario to play out while ALSO adjusting to a new superstar running mate who while not a de facto PG is a supreme creator and high usage player.

Forgive me for allowing DG more than 4 games in an 82 game season to recondition from his time lost to injury and adjust to the new backcourt mate.

That’s a whole lot of assumption your making based on my correct response of laughing at the notion of trading Mobley over Allen.

Yeah. I have no idea about this whole spacing thing. Please illuminate
Good luck with Mobley at center. Clearly he’s shown the rebounding ability, post defense, and physicality that necessitate playing the position. It’s not like we have a sample of our defense totally falling off a cliff once Allen got injured last year.

When Levert hit that 4 point play, to put us up 93-87, I went and checked the BetMGM and they had Cavs at -135 and -125 to win on the money line. I felt good enough about Levert, Mitchell and Okoro potentially closing the game out that I placed 2 bets on Cavs and Kings moneyline for $300 each.

$600 total would return $1800

They were in the driver seat. Easy money.

When Donovan Mitchell hit the Technical after the Draymond delay of game/layup, I checked again and we were now underdogs to win at +109

Not a problem, thought Rch. JBB has learned and Okoro isnt a liability right now. He'll probably even put Love in for one of JA or Mobley to close this out at the FT line when the Warriors start fouling. DG can sit and watch/rest and get ready for a easy late afternoon game in Minny on Sunday. Fuck it, put another $300 on the plus money this time. $300 would return $1200 this time.

Now a total of $900 would return $3000

My brothers, I kid you not, as soon as I saw Garland was coming in after that timeout after the Mitchell freethrow... I tried EVERYTHING in my power to just cash out. I would have even taken 3/4 of my wager a mere few minutes later.

I KNEW Levert and Garland would not score for the rest of the game

And with that $1k loss of a night, I'm going downstairs to crack open this 18 year single barrell bourbon that I planned to save until my family got here for Thanksgiving. :chuckle:

And a lot pf people are quick to call the player soft….lol. Try a mirror.

Late night games don’t helo. Mix in first road trip of the season, first losing streak of the season, and the fact that lots of people bet money on the games and what you get is what you see.

Awesome. Surely all sample sizes run through the flux capacitor in the first 90 games of Mobleys career are absolute indicators of future performance into Mobleys prime.

If you’re actually not just talking in generalities for the sake of a little game thread heat and debate and truly suggesting that it might be the best move to package Mobley, it’s even more bizarre than I first thought.

Yeah, I don’t know. Killing one’s team 3 games straight seems to be the more unlikely events. Now, I’m in Browns Mode - I’m on the edge of my seat, to seat how he will lose us the NEXT game.

Don, tho - he’s my boy.

And Garland was your boy last February while carrying this team on his back.

it seems like you’d be willing to turn your back on just about anyone after 5 games so so I‘m not sure Don should feel too safe of staying in your good graces

Glad I can be of service Kilgore

I'm encouraged seeing Okoro deliver in his old role a little bit. He was crashing the glass well. He really didnt deserve that ILLEGAL moving screen on Klay. I'll bet in the "magical two minute warning" they'll acknowledge that.

I WAS encouraged seeing our 3 guards get staggered and seeing them deliver, but that all went to shit in that last 3 mins when they were all on the floor together again. :02.47 tranquillity:

(shrugs) On to Minny where they have 2 7-footers (though their coach is staggering them pretty much right after the first subs each night now) who should give our young bigs a good measuring stick for playing with each other.

Ah

Ah, 2/3. Cavs weren't beating the Kings and the whole team was involved.

Look I get that some people think there are overreactions to DG. However, this is the Game Thread , not the DG thread in Cavs Talk. ….and lets call a spade a spade, Garland has stunk up the joint of late….period. If you’re going to argue that point, then you need to watch a different sport.

Those calling for patience, I understand. Again, there wasn’t any re-integration problem in his first game back against the Lakers; so things should be getting better and not worse .

Sick, under the weather ? Then, don’t fucking play ! Otherwise, it’s not much of an excuse, if you can play 40 minutes, you can’t be that ill.

Hopefully this isn’t a harbinger of things to come and hopefully, there will be plenty of games where we look back on these game threads and chuckle since DG has regained his form or improved (which should be logical since he’s not even in his prime yet). But his play over the last 3 games has been dreadful and highly correlated to our losses.

Mitchell is the one guy I can never get on for not putting it all out there to try to win the game. Dude is always playing with a fire that you just don’t see from our other players nearly enough unfortunately. And that’s the one problem with having a bunch of nice nerdy happy-go-lucky kids in your core.

When things are going well, man this team is fun and enjoyable and easy to root for. Maybe more so than any other team. But when adversity strikes, it’s so frustrating watching guys just seem mentally checked out and shrinking against pressure and physicality. This is why imo the teams that get along the best off the court and have the most fun probably aren’t the ones winning it all. Occasional conflict and emotions on the court are good things, and I think our young guys are for the most part too nice for their own good.

Who is giving you pushback for calling out DG playing like shit?
