Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I love this mentality.

This is what they should do. Play the Raptors/GSW way. Make them have to call those "fouls" all the time. Build a defensive identity and don't bow down or get lax because of it. Fuck that. Play the right way and be aggressive. League won't fucking mind once we become the most interesting team to watch.

From Fedor's column:

As part of his halftime message, Bickerstaff urged his team to ignore the whistles. For the first time in more than two decades, each team had at least 10 fouls called in the first quarter. There were 30 combined fouls in the first half.

According to Bickerstaff, that led to the Cavs being timid, far too consumed with the uncontrollables. The usual physicality and aggressiveness that led to them becoming the league’s No. 2 defense through the first week had been sucked away by the three-person officiating crew.

“In the second half, we said, ‘To hell with it,’” Bickerstaff told cleveland.com. “We went out and we were physical. Our technique was sound. We did a better job of guarding while not being concerned with foul trouble.”

And the Celtics went from scoring 75 in the first half to 39 in the second.

We get Boston at our house on Wednesday for a rematch. They will have Grant Williams back and we may have Garland by then. Now that we figured out how to defend them we'll see if we can get a win in regulation this time. OTOH, the Celtics will be looking for payback and will have a plan to defend Mitchell and LeVert, probably doubling them and forcing them to give up the ball.

Both teams will have studied the film of this game and made some adjustments. Both teams will have had two days off. Should be a great game.

I am glad to see Okoro down to 5 minutes this fast and Wade up as high as he is. Those are good signs for JBB’s coaching abilities as far as I’m concerned.

Particularly Okoro bc I know many of us were concerned about that relationship.

Straight up one of the reasons I wasnt too concerned with the defensive effort in the 1st half was because so much of the issues were ref dictated.

I didn't see us miscommunicating nor did I see a lack of effort to close out.

Most of their open 3s were because of an inability to stop Brown and Tatum from getting into the paint, which was almost entirely due to the fact that the refs decided to call every single touch foul they possibly could to the tune of 40 combined FTs.

A lot of the reason we defended Tatum better in the 2nd half was because the refs decided to stop being so loose with the whistle.

Time for US to start putting eyes out…

“I think we’re farther along than we expected at this point." - Donovan Mitchell

4-1 without Garland and with Mobley off to a slow start. Yeah, definitely farther along and only going to get better.
While true, regression is inbound. Cavs lead the league in 3P%.

Great highlights! A couple of things I noticed:

1. The Celtics have no one who's fast enough to guard Mitchell. Too bad. That also goes for Garland.
2. LeVert is similar to Brown in build and in his game. Brown has a great game, but LeVert more than neutralized that, he outscored him.
3. The way LeVert and Mitchell played off each other, taking turns driving and kicking for an open 3 is exactly how I picture Mitchell and Garland playing together. So when Garland comes back we'll have three 40-point scoring threats on the floor and 3 deadly 3 point shooters. That's enough to cause coronaries in opposing coaches.
4. You hardly noticed Mobley's 19-10 game or Allen's double-double. I did see that if you add Mobley's 19 to LeVert and Mitchell's 41, you get 101 points. I don't think the threesome of Love, Lebron, and Kyrie ever broke the century mark. I'm pretty sure they got into the 90s.

What does it all mean? A great team, if we can be consistent and can do this in the playoffs.
