Ive been looking into Hulu and Direct Tv live, haven't decided which one to try. Losing live sports has always stopped me from dropping cable, looks like either one could change that.

If you shell out $350-$400 for one of those devices (I have a StreamSmart) and can watch any sporting event live. It pays for itself in the long run. All I pay is my internet (which is $69). I have access to all the UFC/PPV events. All in HD. And the add ons update themselves.

Run on Kodi!!

Imagine a endless bookshelf of movies and tv shows, then I found myself a internet streaming cable add-on that carries 400+ channels including NFL ticket, NBA ticket, MLB ticket, UFC/WWE/Boxing PPV, all for $15 a month. Please take my money!! Just make sure you always pay your internet bill =)

How's the quality for live sports?

The quality for live sports is not very great on Hulu, I'm in the midst of a free trial right now.

if the hulu channel doesn't stream well use your hulu log in and run the channel app directly.

as far as Kodi. I think the add on is called supremacy for live channels and sports devil.

No lagging/buffering at all?

There's very seldom brief pausing, and sometimes the servers are down for maintenance, but nothing I'm going to complain over $15. GearsTV, try a one time subscription I'd say.

Ive tried multiple times to make the switch to a streaming service and I think I'm finally going to go past the trial periods. I had Dish Network and I said to myself if they increase the price that I'd be out.

I've tried Sony Vue, Hulu Live, Sling tv, and YouTube TV over the last 18 months all for a trial period of 5-7 days and could never pull the trigger. Most were because of glitches in the app or with picture quality. The closest I came to switching was with YouTube tv maybe 6 months ago, the deal breaker was not having TNT for NBA games.

This week I noticed my bill jump to $4 on dish and just wanted to see if anything had had changed in the market. Was surprised to find YouTube TV added TNT. They basically now cover all my sports needs since I can live without NBA TV and NFL network since neither blackout Cavs or Brown's games they pick up.

YouTube TV picture quality is the nearest I have found to cable/satellite. It will jump to the highest quality they output within 10 seconds. It has very little motion blur, which was basically the deal breaker for all the other streaming services for me. The app is fairly simple and if you use YouTube it's basically the same layout with an added layer for live TV.

It seems like a good time to switch too because you can get grandfathered in to $35 a month if you sign up before March 13th and save $5 a month. Not sure how long they will hold true to that but it's a nice perk while it lasts.

I would love to switch to YouTube TV and cut our cable bill, but my wife records and watches a lot of shows on Lifetime. Had that been in the list of channels they have, I'd most likely switch.

And it's so stupid that NBA TV isn't included with NBA League Pass.

It will be interesting to see how these streaming tv services will add channels in the future. Viacom pulled it's channels from Sony Vue and it's content from Hulu, they said they are going to make their own streaming service this year. I thought it was odd YouTube didn't have Comedy Central and was sure it was included in some form with Sony Vue and Hulu when I did the trials.

I don't actually think these streaming TV services are going to be how we watch TV in the future. I think it's going to evolve one more time to where we are just buying from the actual channel or content provider. I think Viacom and Disney have already set themselves up to do this.

What I don't understand is what Fox thinks they are going to do. They sold all their regional sports, fx, and stake in Hulu to Disney. Unless they are giving up subscription base programing to a pure ad based broadcast model, I don't understand how they think they can survive with just Fox, Fox news, and FS1.
