someone has came up to me at work today, he told me that he heard brian windorst on the radio talking about a possible trade with the dallas mavericks.

the deal would be Drew Gooden for Jason Terry.

im guessing the mavericks are really interested in Drew Gooden and have been asking about him.

i know nothing will happen until AV returns, and if the coaches feel that he can perform well enough for a full time back up, it would make Drew very expendable.

now i don't have a link, or any type of source to back this up. but if anyone has anything on it, could you hook us up on some details?

So Gooden and Terry are on their last years of their current contract. Getting an offensive point guard makes Damon Jones redundant. We then have Snow as our defensive leader on the bench. We then have Marshall, Varejao and Henderson manning the 4 spot. Mbenga gives us another body behind Ilgauskas, or the same with the giant Pavel.

Giving Dallas Jones allows them a veteran to play with 2nd year player Harris. Gooden comes from the bench and if resigned takes Van Horns role as offensive punch from the bench.

To me this is a solid deal.

I wouldn't mind getting DJ Ilunga-Mbenga. Our current DJ isn't rapping out a funky playlist. Tell me you wouldn't go to the next rave featuring DJ Ilunga-Mbenga.

Or the Cavs could spin it another way with Pavel Podkolzine. Give it up for Yo PP, you know you know me!

Oh man it would be like another Christmas if we can trade Gooden and DJ for Jason Terry. I like Gooden and Jones but Terry makes us a complete team. Plus he's only 28 so he might have 5 or 6 more good years left in him. That way Varejao can be groomed behind Marshall for the time being. Marshall is a better rebounder than Gooden anyways, he seems more natural at it while DG works his ass off for boards.

Oh yes, sign on the dotted line before Cuban wakes up and smells the coffee. Gooden has been better than I thought he'd be, but we need a point guard more than another power forward. I'd make that trade right away too. We can get by with Marshall and Henderson at power forward until Varejao returns.

I doubt Drew Gooden will be a Cavalier next year anyhow. Might as well ship him for something now, then to lose him for nothing.

It makes sense, but if JTerry was aquired, I would doubt he would get the starting spot right away.

You can't just take away Eric's starting spot right after the deal is made. The staff would have to see how well JT play's within' our system.

This also frees up alot of PT for Anderson Varejao, who is our future PF anyhow.

The hell you can't.... If that move is done, he is in the starting lineup no questions asked.

His style would be a perfect fit... You get an upgrade at PG, you put him in...

With that said, like most trades, that very first game the guy is not in the Starting lineup and will come off the bench.. But by game 2 or 3, he is in there..

Yeah Terry will likely start within a week or so. Just like Damon Jones, Terry would play some off guard offensively which would mean Snow will still see 20 minutes or so as our pg to solidify our defense.
