Gordon suspension reduced to 10, 12 if convicted of DWI

I don't like words "at least"

Anything less than the 1 year banishment is a significant aid to Josh's career.. If it is something like 8 games, he's going to be able to participate in team activities, training camp, etc. The minimum one-year indefinite suspension would be devastating to his career both as a Brown and in the NFL in general. He'd basically be exiled from anything team related and wouldn't be able to come to anything at the training facility in Berea. So yes, it is disappointing that he'll likely miss half of the season, but it's a lot of help for Josh as an individual.

If he gets less than a year, can he still practice but just not play in games?

Eh, any reduction will be nice until Gordon fails another test, gets his next DUI, etc. This test could have well been borderline but none of the other smoke in regards to Gordon suggests he is taking any of this seriously enough. Just delaying the inevitable.

Sadly, you've hit the nail on the head with this analysis. Gordon's had too many screw-ups and failures dating back to his college days to think he'll learn a lesson. Some people just aren't very smart and don't learn from their mistakes. Gordon falls into that category.

^ absolute bullshit. But you're entitled to your opinion.

Here's hoping it's a 4 game suspension and he's back on the field at about the same time Manziel is.

^ absolute bullshit.

Is it though? I mean, how many failed drug tests has Gordon already had in his short playing career, both in college and the NFL? How come he's still doing stupid things like driving under the influence and getting pulled over with pot in his car, even with a suspension appeal case pending? How many second, and third, and fourth chances does he need to have before people realize he needs to suffer a major consequence in his life in order to get help and change his behavior?

What exactly does he need help with? A major consequence for smokin trees?

In the words of my grandpappy that's poppycock.

He needs help with not making stupid decisions that completely jeopardize his only livelihood. He has serious problems with self-control, and I'm sure he knows that.
I don't care that pot's not a big deal, it's not in the grand scheme of things...but them's the rules.
If the NFL had a rule that said you can't consume caffeine or you're suspended for a year, then either you don't fucking do it or just quit and go into a different line of work.

Or...you do something like this - have a players union meeting and call it out for the worthlessness it is, speaking on behalf of caffeine in this instance.

To each his own.

Or, just go beat your wife for a lesser suspension.

# of games for the suspension is irrelevant.

I do think that he still has a chance to turn it around, but it's clear he needs a kick in the ass to do it & some serious help. He's still making absolutely stupid decisions. He shouldn't even be in this position right now. That's the point.

Precisely.....

Well then, he should have done that first. You don't break the rule and then fight to get the rule changed after you're in trouble for it.

Precisely.....

However, it's his own fault for being in this position. He needs to get some help & it's pretty clear that he's not going to change or grow up on his own.

What help does he need? I'm still trying to figure that out.
