gun control

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm starting to see a pattern. Those who are alphas...and those who are pawns. IMHO, each of us can fit under 1 of those categories. I'll leave you to think.

It doesn't sound terribly alpha to constantly live in fear and feel the need to carry around a high-powered weapon in order to feel secure.

Hmmmm....I see. I believe it's rather unfortunate that a person would feel the need to do something like that in this day and age, but I don't see the world through rose colored glasses. Also, I assume you mean semi-automatic rifles (i.e. ar-15) when you refer to 'high-powered' weapons, which I do not carry around town on my person (but if I did feel the need to I would and I would do so legally and responsibly).

It's not gonna be too alpha of you when someone puts a gun up to you and you run and cry like a bitch for their life. He might even rape you after that and what's gonna be your response? You gonna fight back? But he's got a gun, the great equalizer. He could be high on meth and kill your family or your pets probably with his bare hands if he smoked up some PCP or other dissociative stimulant.

It would be pretty badass that Mar could whip out his pistol and intervene without depending on the government or waiting on the police to arrive while your fucking life is in the balance.

I love how your scenarios are getting increasingly less probable. Do you honestly worry that someone is going to put a gun on you and rape you? I don't.

And honestly, if someone has Mar at gunpoint and he reaches for his gun, he's going to get murdered. It's as simple as that.

I'm starting to believe that if you call yourself alpha on an internet forum, your the opposite of an alpha.

With a classroom full of dead kids, it'd be cool if we could discuss gun control in a reasonable and rationale manner instead of back and forth dick measuring.

True, but I'm hoping both of us would never be in that predicament - but I am prepared for it.

I have an honest question for you folks.......

If you're by yourself and you happen to see somebody assaulting another person (young girl, old man, you name it).....do you intervene (and if you do, how) knowing that the person could potentially put you in danger? (possibly with a weapon - do you think police officers don't assume a criminal might be armed?) If that person decides to threaten your life, what do you do? You honestly would rather take the chance without a weapon (give my your reasoning so I can demolish it)? I would use my weapon FIRST as a deterrent of crime. You often hear people say "if you pull out your weapon you better use it".....NEGATIVE. You better be READY to use it, but you'd rather not.

If I had the opportunity to prevent a rape simply by yelling at the criminal causing him to leave or threaten me (he might be dead, then)...it's 1 life saved. I would hope many others do this, rather than nothing happen.

Bingo.

Tough talkers, saying someone is going to put a gun to their head...it's cool though, they have a concealed weapon they're going to pull out sometime before they realize what you're doing.

So alpha...RIP

I guess this is what you'd call trade offs...no?

It's weird. I have smoke detectors and a fire extinguisher in my house.

Does that mean I'm not alpha? No.

Does that mean I can't sleep at night because I live in fear of my house burning down while I snooze? Nope. I don't live in fear.

Do I feel more secure because I equip myself with a tool I hope I never need to use? Yes. Yes I do.

Such an interesting concept.

I think you misinterpreted my quote.

BigMar made the implication earlier that he was alpha because he carried a gun, a statement that I felt to be thoroughly ridiculous. He also made numerous statements about how he primarily carries his gun out of a seemingly constant fear of being attacked at any moment. You're welcome to browse all of his posts in this topic if you want to confirm that. I was simply stating that living in fear to the point that you feel the need to constantly carry a gun doesn't exactly scream "alpha" to me.

I have nothing against people who own guns. I also don't really have anything against guns in general. I've fired them at ranges numerous times and in the woods with friends a few times as well back in high school. I've been hunting half a dozen times. I do, however, take issue with that joke assumption that carrying a gun magically makes someone alpha. Anyone who thinks that it does is probably carrying their gun for the wrong reasons.

Your reading comprehension and fantasy laden ideas of me are very wrong. But, carry on. Keep wondering whether or not it makes me or anyone else who carries a gun alpha.....that's certainly nothing of importance here. The idea of alpha vs. pawn is more than carrying a weapon. I keep bringing up ideology. There's a reason.

Fire extinguishers, firearms.

They're almost the same thing.

In fact, if they take guns away...there might be an outbreak of fire-extinguisher related homicides. Because if people want to kill you, they will.

Your attempt at humor is futile.
