Houston Deputy Murdered while pumping gas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Probably yes.

I live in an urban environment and walk around late at night with a smartphone, wallet and MacBook. We get emails from the school every time an incident occurs. I have seen maybe 3 white suspects named over the course of my 3+ years here.

Does that mean that I think black people just naturally like to rob people? No. But I do think that there are more poor black people around here than poor white people, because of flaws in society. They do these things because they are poor and desperate, not because they are black. It just so happens that the poor, desperate people around here are primarily black.

Moral of the story: if I'm walking home from night class and see a sketchy black dude approaching me, I'm crossing the street. Not worth the risk. I'd do the same for a sketchy white guy, but there aren't as many of those.

It's not being racist, it's being logical. I'm not going to risk my safety for the sake of proving a point.

For some reason you added poor and urban to the mix when the question solely pertained to black people.

If you fear black people then your probably racist. Nothing you said addresses that point.

btw.. Don't you call people niggas and think it's cute?

Not re hashing that conversation. You know that solely pertains to friends behind closed doors and has nothing to do with race.

I don't FEAR black people. I have black friends. I fear poor people who have nothing to lose and have been "forgotten" by society. Based on the data that I have, the majority of those people WHERE I LIVE are black. Is it wrong that they feel the need to steal in order to survive? Absolutely. But that is the reality of the situation.

I said I'd cross the street if I saw a sketchy white guy too, but that doesn't happen often.

Tell my parents I'm a racist when I take your advice and end up in the hospital with multiple stab wounds.

No love for the Asian community up in here? They must always feel like a third wheel.

Oh, shit......what about those Indians from India?

Re read the question posed. Has nothing to do with socioeconomics. Question only deals in race. You keep adding predicates that aren't at question thus changing the context.

And im not calling you a racist although I do think you're extremely ignorant and insensitive to continue calling people the n word.

I said I don't fear black people? Isn't that the question? But late at night, if it's a toss up and I don't know what someone is going to do, I'm getting TF out of there.

I don't think there's a perfect answer here. The overlap between race and socioeconomics can't just be ignored. You have to understand what I'm saying, right?

There is the issue of racial tensions/animosity as well. The truth is that there are assaults motivated at least in part because the other person is of a different race. So it may be rationale for a white person to be more afraid when approached by some sketchy black guys, just as it may be rational for a black person to be more afraid when approached by some sketchy white guys.

Whether or not that is "racism"/depends on your definition, I suppose. I've been in some of those situations and generally, I don't care, and don't really feel any more nervous.

On the other hand, there have been some occasions where I've been in some very sketchy neighborhoods where I'm the only white guy, and some concerned black people told me that I should be very careful and get out as soon as I could.

That's the other thing, black people can be racist too. And I'm sure there's a percentage who resent well-off white kids getting a college degree.

Again... you're adding conditionals. Late at night. Sketchy.

Not the question.

But I think you already answered it anyway.

P.s. You can totally ignore socioeconomics for the sake of this question. Its asinine not to.

Why can't I add conditionals? You said it's racist to look over my shoulder.

I'm saying, not always.

I never said it's racist to look over your shoulder. Jesus christ.

I answered a very specific question. Then clarified that question for you 3 times.

You can't go back change the question I answered by adding conditions then re use my answer to fit your narrative. You understand how ridiculous that is right?

Well, there are white people who may resent well-off white college kids too. My overwhelming experience with people of different races, and even different socio-economic claases, even in very casual encounters, is that if you just treat them exactly the same as you'd treat someone white, they respond exactly the same.

If there's tension, it's usually because you're not seeing them the same, and that gets sensed.

Although a lot of southerners seem to have a Yankee detector that earns you the hairy eyeball more often than not....

Wrong. Black people cannot be racist. I know this because I saw it on Facebook.
