Iman Shumpert: Gone! Thank God!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
They tried.

Don't worry. His next good stretch and people will be back to only trading him for a younger, cheaper, bigger, better player. You know, something that's not happening.

You saying shump frye and a pick can't get us Paul George?

Said this in the S34 chat...but I think we made a mistake not selling high on him...

He's not going to have much of a role moving forward for us, and he's getting paid 10 million dollars...should have used him to make the roster a little less redundant.

Was right there with you.

We already have a cheap 4th-5th guard match-up defender. Liggins.

No need to pay Shump 10 million to play that role. And then do it terribly.

Yeah, who doesn't play. Lue must get off on watching Shumpert get shredded every possession.

Guarantee Liggins would have done a far more respectable job.

One reason Shump gets the minutes he does is because of the contract we committed to him in my opinion. If we didn't overpay him, you'd probably see much less of him.

I mean..I'm trying to be a bit reasonable. I remember last year being disgusted with the guy thinking he was all about his stupid rap career and was mailing it in, and he proceeded to have some important moments in the playoffs. A certain 4 point play comes to mind.

But that being said, I just can't see how he should get any minutes once JR is back. He and Korver can man the 2 just fine, and Liggins can be the situational defensive player. How do you justify playing Shump once JR is back? I truly think he's buried come playoff time.

Hope they re-explore a deal for a big and wing combo this summer...JR long term, Korver on the verge of re-signing for multiple years, and Liggins making a little more than 1 million next season, Shump is the odd man out because of his salary.

He would have at least tried. Shump looks like he's trying to conserve energy on defense for offense. He thinks he's a lot better in his own mind.

He lost us this game with hsi defense. Every pick he went under which resulted in a wide open 3.
Like I said, we should have traded him this deadline but we didn't, so now we will watch his value go down to nonexistant before the off-season comes.
I'm furious after this game tbh.

He was supposed to be a stabilizing defensive force in the backcourt with Kyrie but those two don't play well together. Coming into this game, they were a NET +1.3 per 100 possessions together on court (that will drop after tonight), and had been in the negative for most of the year.

Kyrie paired with Liggins is +18.9 per 100.

Shump had been a top 5 wing defender over the past 3 years but isn't anymore. In 2015, the team was 6.8 points per 100 better defensively with him on court and 3 4 points per 100 in 2016. This year, the team is more than 1 point per 100 worse defensively with him on court.

With his 3 point % regressing to the mean, he's just not an integral part of winning right now. I know I can't be alone in just waiting it out until Korver substitutes in for him.

I just really really don't think it's that hard to find highly inconsistent wing defense, middling 3 point shooting, and an inability to handle the ball in the bottom half of the 1st round of the draft.

I said last year I'd trade Shumpert for a 1st rounder if someone was offering, and I'd do it again this summer.

Of course he'll have like a good 3 minute defensive stretch against Klay Thompson and we'll be back to "You just can't possibly trade someone with this type of defensive potential!!"

I'm ready to get off the Shumpert roller coaster. You can get someone who does what he does, in the draft, for a cheaper price. The only reason you don't make this move is because you still believe in Shumpert's youth and potential. But, I think we've seen enough over his career to go ahead and put a low ceiling on that remaining potential.

But we won the Finals, so it made moving him impossible. People managed to twist his actual piss poor play in the FInals into a positive, because we won. Just because Kyrie Irving made that shot doesn't change Shumpert's impact. If we had lost that Finals, he would have been getting kill here. He was bad. Don't take a good minute of defense here and there and act like no one else can possibly duplicate that.

So I maintain my position on Shumpert that I've had for a while. We should look to trade him this summer, and if someone is offering up a 1st rounder, we should take it. I'm going to continue to take the long view of Shumpert's career, and not get caught up in a bad stretch here or some good defense there. This season is a pretty good microcosm of his career as a whole. Hot start, bad stretches, varying degrees of defensive effort. We can find this at a cheaper rate

Bumping myself.

A good stretch. Now a bad stretch. Some of you love riding coaster Shumpert up and down.

His good isn't good enough to justify his bad.

So, again, if someone is offering a decent 1st rounder this summer, take it and run.

He always has been this player. He will look great then become nothing and it is odd. To be honest JR gets him going as Shump has this bond with JR. I am not sure but the dude lost his defense and the one thing that made him worth it. Can he gain it all back sure he can. However how he slipped under the screen that lead the fraud Thomas three. I am not sure how you can trust him after that is a constant thing. LeBron and Lue better give it up as he is not worth playing right now. Send him a huge fucking message.
