Iman Shumpert: Gone! Thank God!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Now it's interesting - what were those Shumpert's tweets that he later removed?
All I see now is "not valid tweet id" message...

Logistical question: what does Shumpert do with that hair at night? Seems like it'd be down in his face by morning or does he wear something over it? These are the kinds of questions people with a lot less hair ask themselves. Gotta say, it's great branding.

I like what I've seen from Shumpert so far. Offensively he isn't as strong as I thought but the guy has shown an aptitude for playing winning basketball.

Sleeps sitting up duh

It took a little time, but he seems to be comfortable now defensively. Yesterday was one of the best displays of on ball defense that I have seen in a long time. He is the real deal and I have no idea why he isn't starting yet. JR has been good in the passing lanes, but his man to man defense has been lacking and he fouls too much. Kyrie/Shump/Lebron/Love/Moz is the best lineup in the league going forward.

Is it too late to move J.R. to the sixth man and finally start Iman at the two? J.R. has played fantastic though. That might bother him.

J.R., Tristan, Matt, Kendrick, Shawn, and James/Miller isn't a bad bench.

^ ^^I totally agree on getting Shump in the starting lineup(see Post 762 in the JR Smith thread), but the post after me got like 20+ Likes supporting keeping the JR starting status quo...

I missed the game lastnight, but it sounds like Shump is still ballhawking it up. What did he do that was so different lastnight?

yeah, i think most people just don't want to mess up the chemistry of the starting lineup which seems to really be working. plus, if JR is out with the second unit, he might end up going back to Knicks JR, whereas he plays really unselfishly with the starters. i think it's worth a shot moving him to the bench, but hard to say if Blatt agrees.

Totally agree and know why ppl want to keep it the same. Blatt is a smart guy though, and I think we may be forced to do it if we get down in a playoff series anyway.

Blatt, as we know from interviews, plays his cards pretty damn close to the vest. He's also extremely insightful and I'm hoping he sees this ahead of time and has it at least as a Plan B or C. Maybe he doesn't...like we've discussed, he doesn't know this league's personnel like we do. I'd like to think he does though.

I think JR would be more consistent scoring if he came off the bench. I think Iman's the better starter, as well. To me it's a no-brainer, but Blatt seems to be the stubborn type that's going to roll with his lineup until he's forced to change it. Blatt's been a fantastic coach, but he has a few flaws, and his rotations have consistently been the biggest flaw.

please dont dion waiters jr smith.

let him be a supplementary teammate instead of the mule pulling the bench scoring. he is good in this role and accepts it. please dont fuck with it.

fwiw I like shumpert better.

My head says moving jr to the bench is the 'right' thing to do, but my heart is greedy for the spacing that he gives the starters. I mean with JR the starting 5 is virtually unguardable strategically, with shump you can step off him at least on paper. I'm thinking jr has earnt the right to start until he decides to go to the bench or his play dictates it.

I do think blatt should stagger shump and smith more, i realise putting them out there together at the start helped continuity but i think they should mainly interchange each other unless marion is going to provide that perimeter length

I mean, it's a tall task to ask a coach to change the most successful starting lineup in the league.

Per 100 possessions, our current starting 5 is +27.5. That is an INSANE number.

Shump with the starters is a much smaller sample size (48.6 Min vs 347.6 min).

Per 100 possessions, Iman with the starters is +17.7. Still very good.

Smith has been playing really, really well with that starting unit.

I think he needs to remain there even though Shump might be a better "fit" on paper.

I think especially for this season we keep it. If we want to make that sort of rotation change lets do it when we have a full off season and season to let it work out.
