Iman Shumpert: Gone! Thank God!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Shump coming up huge so far this series. Rest that groin kid, we need you.

Yes, I would rather have his defense in the starting lineup.

But there's that stupid record-breaking stuff we had with JR in there, and ppl aren't going to be able to distinguish between that and postseason play, which is a totally different animal.

EDIT- Lloyd's behind it...

Nobody asked me (and nobody will), but if they did, I'd suggest Iman Shumpert remains the starting SG Friday night for Game 3. And beyond

This will be better for the offseason, but I'm not a fan of paying all of these guys just to pay them. If you're going ot win titles you have to find value, like the Spurs with Bellinelli and Danny Green. If we end up paying Thompson and Shumpert (who knows what Shumpert will get, so that could end up being a good number) it's going to make it hard to find value players like the Spurs have.

That said, I'd probably rather prioritize Shumpert over Thompson.

But we'll save this for the off-season.

You find value players by drafting well(we have some picks that we haven;t traded away yet) and developing those guys. We can, will and should pay everyone that we have. We just need to find some good, ready-to-play. controutors in the draft./ Mayber revive a few youn talented guys for the minimum who have fell off for whatever reasons. Hopefully Harris will develop into a playerm etc.

But mark my words, we will sign BOTH Shump and Tristan this off-season.

Damn Shump, earning that contract.

Seriously though, I really am looking forward to a lineup of:

Irving/Smith/Shumpert/LeBron/Mozgov (or TT)

I remember before J.R. KOed Crowder that this lineup worked really well.

Shump will start next game, I am pretty sure of it. Not that much because of his performances, but more because JR hasn't played an NBA basketball game for two weeks, he will be rusty as shit and will need some time to get it going.

Getting Moz, Shump and JR can not be over-stated. Imagine where we would be without those 3. Regardless of how we do from here out, the moves to get those three guys was fuckin HUGE.

While Shumpert has been on court this year, we have played the equivalent of the second best defense in the NBA. He's been the perimeter defending catalyst of the best five man defensive unit in the NBA (Delly/Shump/James/TT/Moz). If he can consistently hit open threes, he becomes a hell of a starting 2 guard next to Kyrie.

Shump has been a serious x-factor so far in these playoffs. Against the Cs, he almost totally muffled Isaiah Thomas' explosions off the bench with his aggressive, attacking defense. In this series, we are seeing the full repertoire.

Someone had to step up and fill the massive gap left by KLove. Shumpert has been that guy so far. He has been surprisingly lethal when left unchecked from three, very good off the dribble at times when defenses get too aggressive on the close-out, and one of the best perimeter defenders in the league for the playoffs so far.

The only problem is how much money this guy is earning on his next contract. His ceiling is pretty damn high, imo. The kind of player every championship team needs in today's NBA.
