No; it's not all. This is showing all of us that there will be many more trades by Friday.

I actually think we will be trading at least five of the above by Friday at 4pm.

I like what we got for Garko. His value went up in the last month or so thanks to his hitting. The Indians had to know we are stocked with quality 1st basemen for years into the future, so it's no surprise Garko was traded. He was headed to arbitration anyway.

This will be Marte's last shot, to show if he's a AAAA player of if he really can be a part of the future. If not, he'll be replaced by LaPorta...Or Mills...Or Brown...so on and so forth.

Yeah, but I think Wedge just said he would be used at 1st base. hm what?

As long as Wedge remains the Manager, all these moves and trades will be under-utilized for sure.
 
Garko is basically the definition of a replacement-level 1st baseman. Getting any kind of return from trading him is great, and getting a 21 year old A-baller who is putting up those kind of numbers is amazing. Kudos to Shapiro, per usual in trades like these.

I'd much rather give Marte a shot at 1st and 3rd to see if he has anything left. Even with the poor, poor seasons he has had, his potential is miles above that of Garko's.

Oh well. Garko had/has potential, but apparently he's not in the Tribe's plans.
 
I think a drastically cut payroll is in the Tribe's plans, honestly. I see no other way they can continue to run this club with the attendance, they have to be bleeding money with an $81 million payroll. I saw on MLBTradeRumors some article (I think from an NY guy) who said he sees them cutting to around $50 million. That'd suck...hopefully not.

Loss of attendance will most certainly cause them to lose a lot of money this year, and with the Hafner/Westbrook/Wood unholy trinity of bad contracts, 50 million is probably the best we could do while not being the Nationals.

Oh, and how about the double wammy the Dolans pulled after the 07 season by extending BOTH Shapiro and Wedgies contract?

When you think about it; the Tribe sure does have lots of fucked up signings over the last few years.
 
Well, just another good prospect added to keep our title as 'The Best Young Team in Baseball"...
