Infant/Baby thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Those of you that have said that you just kind of figure out a way to survive these first few weeks weren’t lying.

We have a house full of tired but otherwise happy and healthy humans and pets. Our animals have taken to our daughter immediately - especially our dog, who is generally anxious and untrusting of strangers. It’s hard to explain, but she shows genuine concern whenever our daughter starts crying and wants to hang out around her all the time.
That is great! Our cats are kind of indifferent to the baby, and the baby is indifferent to them.

Our two boys are super affectionate, so naturally they’ve been pretty curious (although they haven’t tried to jump into the bassinet with her or anything… yet).

First vacay. Freaking love this age. Everything she does is frustratingly adorable.

Impossible to get a decent family pic. Only brought the non-husky with us.

Babies are awesome. I won’t lie though. Once they can feed themselves, bath themselves and wipe their own ass is pretty great too!
My boy is 11 and just started middle school, my baby girl just turned 9. The conversations I get to have with them individually is incredible. Enjoy EVERY moment. It goes by really, really fast.

Little girl has had RSV this week so it’s been kinda scary. We went to the ER wednesday night because her oxygen got so low. She had covid before this (as did mom and dad) so we are just ready for her to be healthy again.

Raising a kid for the first time without any sort of nearby support system absolutely fucking sucks.

Best we can get is uninvolved family members calling and texting from hundreds, if not thousands of miles away to give us unsolicited parenting advice and question our decisions as parents, despite the fact that the vast majority of them have yet to actually meet our baby in person (and have made no effort to do so).

Otherwise healthy and happy baby is inconsolable lately. Taking her to the doctor today… hoping it is just something minor like her starting to teethe. It just sucks and I feel like a bad parent because she’s clearly uncomfortable about something and I haven’t been able to fix it.

Sorry… tired, overworked dad just needed to vent.

Babies are pretty resilient. They have to be because parents are stupid. All of us who have been parents know this.

Sucks to not have support close by.

Teething is rough on the baby and parents.

One thing I will say pretty forcefully - shitcan that “bad parent” thought. You’re a bad parent if you don’t care for your child. You won’t be able to fix everything for your child, and in some cases they have to struggle through tough challenges. Be there for your kids and you’re a good parent. Parents can’t control outcomes sometimes.c
