Im an avid preacher about Lebron James shooting too much, I hate how he jacks shots for no reason and here is something that I just looked up...

When Lebron shoots the ball more than 20 times (meaning 21+), the Cavs are just 3-7. Meaning 20 shots an under, the Cavs are 9-2.

And the two times we lost when he didn't shoot over that amount were to the Spurs and the Pacers.

What I find alarming is that we all know he is a very poor three point shooter, but he jacked it up over 300 times last year, an alarming four times a game. That is scary..

What is worse, is he is averaging almost one more three a game this year, nearing 5 trey balls per game this year. That is not going to get it done.

I had this arguement with my basketball coach, I hate Lebrons game. Absolutely hate it, Ill be honest with you. I honestly beleive Lebron should NEVER take a shot outside of 15 feet, now I can add he shouldn't shoot over 20 times and learn to pass the ball more instead of dribbling the shot clock down.

It is clear, with this offense, that if Lebron is going to score, he needs be in the paint or near it. Higher percentage shot, more fouls, more free throws. That also opens the floor for other players, which leads to more passing and more assists and essentially, more Ws.

So what u are saying is that LeBron should just play PF and open a tent and camp in the paint? So you are saying that basically he should just keep doing those lay ups? If so, you just transformed him into the laziest player in the NBA!

Donyell Marshall is a PF and he camps out on the perimeter... So that is not what Mac is spittin' here...

I agree with MAC 1000% here...

LeBron should be fined by the coach $5000 for every deep ball he takes...What pisses me off is the deep two's more then anything...

He dances with the ball and palms that M'fer every time... But, he is predictable with every deep jumper he takes... Every time the shot clock is at 8 or below, and when he takes a step back...

The dude should attack every time he has the ball... Same with Hughes...

This junk of trying to get Z going in the post early is piss poor offense... I understand the concept of establishing your big man early.... But, I would like to see 'Bron driving and hading off passes to Z in the lane...

Also, LeBron should be in the post more... He had several beautiful back door passes... And he even found guys in the corner across the floor for open jumpers, or were passes that lead to another swing pass to the open man...

When lebron attacks the rim it really is like watching someone play a video game, its that easy for him.

Seeing how easy it is for Lebron to get to the hole makes me feel like he gets bored and wants to shoot instead. Everytime he wants to get to the rim he does, name another player in the league who can do that.

I will not argue that LeBron shoots the ball too much from the perimeter, or that he should post up more.

But kids, he needs to be a perimeter threat or all the teams hold off him big time. I want him to shoot the 3 ball less, but not lose that shot. He needs to improve when to shoot it and reduce it slightly. His offensive game is very good but it has kinks. It will mature with time as it has over 3 seasons. Maybe if coach Brown played him less minutes he wont come up with those mental errors that lead to bad perimeter J's.

He took a step forward tonight and I'll leave it at that.

making him take layups isn't boring at all, and its definitely not wat a stereotype PF does. wat is concerning me is the effort it takes to slash down the hole... it gets tiring... and we dont want any more backdowns from him, just slashes to the rim... fck the 5 second backdown

Then put him in the post...

Take a deep jumper ? $ 5 grand in the poor shot jar please....

Like I said he needs to be draining some perimeter J's to be able to do his thing slashing.

I'm all for hitting him in the post.

$ 5 grand for LeBron

$ 3 grand for Larry

And i'm sticking with it...:chuckles:

At least until this team understands when it is a good time to strike while the iron is hot...

These deep shots are bail outs or shots with about 13 seconds left on the shot clock...

some strange opinions in this tread that are not backed up by facts at all.

First of all, let's look at the three premier wing players in the league. Lebron, Kobe, TMac, Wade. What is their effective FG% on jump shots going into tonight?

Kobe - .422
LeBron - .420
TMac - .408
Wade - .376

He's right there at the top of those 4. So maybe you want him to take it to the hoop more? Lets see what percentage of each guy shots are inside shots?

LeBron - 41%
Wade - 37%
TMac - 23%
Kobe - 21%

For comparison, last year LeBron shot an efg% of .396 on jump shots and only took it inside 33% of the time. He's both shooting better from the outside and taking the ball to the hoop more. The result - hos scoring is up 3.5 points/game on just 0.5 more FG attempts and he's getting to the line a full 2.1 more attempts/game.

Maybe you think he should really take it to the hoop like AI does - yet AI only takes inside shots 32% of the time, the rest are jump shots.

The stat that originally was posted in this thread is very misleading. LeBron is a very smart basketball player. He only takes 21+ shots if his teammates aren't hitting their shots. And even then he restrains himself too much. He hasn't gone over 30 shots all season. Even the night he scored 52, he only took 29 shots, going an impressive 19-29. On a night like that, he should have taken 35+ shots, with the extra shots coming in the 4th quarter.

A night like tonight he was just as hot - finishing 11-18, but took under 20 shots because teammates were hitting their shots.

And if you know or play basketball, you know that if you make outside shots, the defenders tighten up on you, which makes it easier to get past them to drive to the hoop. You have to take some outside shots to get the defender thinking about it.

Bravo LJ4MVP. Top marks there.

lebron's doing fine. first game in a long time the ball moved around and it showed.

i can't get over that picture karma. i'm starting to think all aussies look like that. please put some video there of some women rubbing her breasts.

Yes we have all been cloned. We all get about in khaki's wrestling crocs and talkin Cavs.

talkin cavs? you are all crazy down there. how's the weather? tell me 85 deg f and i'll send you a virius. (am i aloud to say that without the bush police arresting my aussie jihad).

You can hit me with every percentage you want until your fingers get tired of typing them..

Drive Drive Drive Set a damn screen and Drive....Then get in the post...Get a damn player in here that can come off a screen and hit an outside shot...

If you think for 1 second they're going to layoff LeBron ? You're sadly mistaken....They don't layoff Wade despite his poor outside shooting...

Also, perhaps if he was more aggressive, and for whatever stupid reason they do layoff ? Well then, guess what, we have LeBron wide open for uncontested shots... Which is something for the most part we want... It's his pathetic poor shot selection which is the problem... Especially in the 4th..

Drive Drive and Drive some more...
