It's grilling season.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
A director at work said he grills crab legs. He said he would never go back to boiling them.

I've boiled my share, but they are live when they hit the water. Is he grilling them live?

Has anyone on here cooked Pizza on the grill before? I heard it adds a ton of flavor to the pizza. If this was mentioned I apologize I haven't looked through this in awhile.

First off: Happy Father's Day to those of you who made a baby. Today I'm grilling N.Y. strip steaks with my grandfather's favorite marinade. Hope you try it:

9 tblspn. Bourbon
6 tblspn. Soy sauce
2 tblspn. Red wine vinegar
2 tblspn. Olive oil
1 chopped garlic clove
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Ground pepper
1/2 tsp. Dried oregano

Sounds good, I'll have to try that next time. How long did you marinate?

I did sirloin steaks for father's day. I've gotten sirloins the last few times as opposed to the typical strip/ribeye that I usually get. If they are significantly cheaper (they usually are) IMO they are worth it.

Had the whole idea to grill out BBQ chicken yesterday and it was too windy in Cbus. Ended up cast ironing it with beer, bbq, pineapple, cayenne, red pepper flakes, a1 steak seasoning, couple dabs of ghost pepper hot sauce & S&P. Actually turned out damn good.

I marinated for about five hours in a zip lock at room temperature. I usually marinate in the fridge overnight but I figured the booze would kill any bacteria.

My grandma would baste the steak with some melted butter with a little sherry as they grilled, I didn't but I can see how it adds an added dimension.

My everyday cut of steak is London Broil, but I had my in-laws over and wanted to bring it up a notch.

Where do you guys buy your meat? Grocery store or butcher? Which has the better value?

What cuts are the best quality for the price? Best taste without breaking the bank?

Making some pit beef today. Top round is on the smoker having been injected with a combo of butter and rib run I use. Letting it go at 225 for a few hours with some mesquite chips. Back yard smells like heaven, or the area beyond RF at Camden Yards

*** edit

Just cut into it after letting it rest for 2 hours. Came out perfect, great smoke ring and mid - mid rare in the middle. Made some homemade horseradish sauce and picked up some fresh kaiser rolls from a local bakery. Needless to say, won't be much in the way of leftovers

I'm in the market for a variety of rubs, preferably in a package. I smoke and grill a fair amount, 2-3 times a week so bulk is good.

Reccommendations?

I do my own usually, but since it seems you want a keg full, it is probably better to buy. I just keep a shit ton of spices in my house so I can mix up whatever I feel like at the moment.

some sort of mexican beer, S&P, cumin, cilantro, garlic, lime, chili powder. I am sure im forgetting a couple things but it's damn good.

I don't mind A1's seasoning as a base, then add a couple things to spice it up a bit. I got my gf's dad a rub kit, has rubs for pork, chicken, beef, seafood. I will get the name & give it to ya.

Or Weber's coffee rub isn't a bad way to start.

I have been making my own as well, but I'm just getting tired of it.

Yes, please let me know the name of the kit.

If you don't mind throwing a little extra money at dry rubs, Penzey's is great. I made a trip to Memphis a few years back and brought a bunch of BBQ rubs back... but I'm starting to run out of those. Then my sister grabbed a gift pack of Penzey's rubs from the Cleveland location and I've experimented with their products ever since. I strongly suggest the jaimacan jerk and bouquet garni.

If I can remember, I will look when I get home for what I got as a gift. It was maybe 12 tin cans of different blends (e.g. - pork rub, asian rub, cajun rub), which was nice. As a broad-based recommendation, I would suggest you get a rub set without salt. It's a cheap ingredient and you can always add it yourself to your own preference, or you could get this: https://www.google.com/search?q=dif...ng+salt+set&tbm=shop&spd=16559756922120930345

which looks pretty awesome too.
