Jeff Green: Old

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Pathetic signing..

You and a few other of these "rookies" are killing this site and turning it into a little whiney bitch fest... If you think that a 31 year old 6'9 solid defender on the vet min is a pathetic signing then you don't know shit about basketball... LBJ reached out to him personally...

I don't get the hate for this guy. His absolute floor should be what Derrick Williams did for us last year. I mean, he's not going to be option A, B, or C ever while he's on the floor. But if we utilize his size and athleticism correctly, he should be able to make a positive impact. He's a much better finisher than Derrick Williams, at least from the eye test (not going by any advanced stats here).

A potential bench of Green, Crawford, Korver and Calderon is already an upgrade on the sludge from last year. Is it perfect? No, but that's what you gotta deal with when you have the other players that the Cavs have. A big three causes this type of thing.

What impact players?

All we have is the MLE? Please don't say you wish we signed Tyreke Evans?
Naaaa, not a Tyreke fan, dude. One Ty around this team is already too much...:chuckle:

Right....and Shump and Frye matchup well vs certain teams...obviously GS is what matters though....Green helps vs them

See, Jeff Green has the attributes and skill-set with his length and athleticism to be a factor against not just Warriors but a lot of teams. But the criticism and frustration with him is that, he has rarely combined that to do it consistently. Now, if he can do that here and at least score at at effecient rate, then LeBron is a fucking genius!

Its not a horrible signing because like others have said, its for vets minimum but somewhat underwhelming!

Anyway, lets see!

Richard Jefferson is borderline unplayable right now. He can not beat anyone off the dribble anymore. If he dunks the ball, the announcers stop everything and talk about what a marvel he is for someone in his mid 30's etc. He CANT SHOOT etc.

The only thing Jefferson has going for him is that he will never play scared and his basketball IQ is high and especially off the charts compared to a lot of other Cavaliers.

Jeff Green automatically becomes the Cavs 6th man if his back is healthy. This isn't the Calderon signing. Jeff Green is USEFUL!

Jefferson still has some athleticism and (pathetically) was the Cavs best bench player in the finals. He's the only guy off the bench who plays better on the big stage instead of becoming a shell of himself. His problem- and the Cavs really missed it- is that the guy didn't knock down the open 3 like he did in 2016. Seemed to lose his legs.

I'm actually a fan of Jeff Green, and I find it laughable that anyone would say this is a bad move for the minimum.

He can play. He's a long NBA wing. Career 13.5/5 guy.

He's still only 30.

Just wait until you see him in a lineup with LeBron. Rebirth.
The guy will flourish with LeBron around. Those numbers off our bench are a godsend.

Nice addition! 6'9" Athletic Wing, only 30. Has experience with Lue.
He signed a one year deal for 15M Last Year. Vet minimum is a bargain!
Low risk high reward for this guy. As long as he puts in effort on defense this signing is a plus.

Green always stepped up against bron. I have a feeling he will feel energized. Let's see.

Ok I'm on board with the minimum dollar amount as a legit reason.... Fair enough...But for everyone who keeps saying-- "well he's 6'9" -- might as well just say "well he's tall and can breathe"....

In theory. I get the logic, and you can't complain for a 1 year vet minimum contract, but I guess I was hoping for more. I was hoping we could land more proven consistent performers. I was hoping we could get a legit defender in here, even if it meant a bit of a falloff on offense. Green can score when he is hot. His defense is lackluster.

Green is basically just an older version of Derrick Williams. At least with Derrick we still had some hope that he had never been in a good situation and our vets were going to show him the way, that he could develop into something. Green has been a disappointment for every team who bought into his potential.

At least we aren't overpaying. I hope he overachieves.
