Jeff Green: Old

Tyreke is complete trash not sure why people want him so bad but that would eat up the majority of the MLE we have not sure what they are doing but signing Green to the minimum isn't a bad move

Didn't say I hated it, just underwhelmed. To some degree it feels like reality is slapping us Cavs fans in the face after we talked ourselves into being able to sign better players to vet min contracts and pull off the huge trades to compete better with GS. I know I had myself believing that better players would come here to play with Lebron/Kyrie and take down the evil empire.

Calderon and Green move the needle zero, and very possibly lead to an even worse bench. Its not like we are improving on D or bringing in older but stud scorers. These are likely just more JAGs. Richard Jefferson after underperforming and looking too old to compete is still a better bench guy than these guys. Deron was total crap for us and probably still a better backup PG than Calderon.

Great signing.....
Another ZERO risk signing. Had the MLE been used on him then Im sure all of us would be jumping off a cliff but much like Calderon he kind of fills a GLARING need. We need length. And to me he is LIGHT YEARS more playable against the Warriors than Derick Williams.

Im sorry Derick Williams lovers but he is a power forward in a small forwards body. At least Jeff Green is simply a poor man's version of a decent NBA wing. He can dribble decently. He can kind of create his own shot if his back isn't acting up. He can kind of shoot. He can kind of defend.

He is light years ahead of Richard Jefferson and D Will and is now the Cavs 2nd most athletic player. We needed length on the wings. Well we just used the vet min on a guy that begins to address that need.

Still want another wing type defender.

Tony Allen. Thabo maybe.

Someone in that mold.

What move have the Cavs realistically not made that has you so up in arms?

From all indications they went to the wall for Butler and George. For whatever reason, those teams refused to trade those guys to us. You can't fault the Cavs on that. Whether it was Kobe Altman, Griff, or Gilbert they put the offer out there for those two guys and the other team simply refused our deal.

Cant blame the Cavs there.

But what free agents did we not get? Nick Young? Omri Caspi? We couldn't use those guys against the Warriors....Im sorry but they would be TOTALLY unplayable on the floor for us against the Warriors.

I agree Calderon likely is probably a totally meaningless signing and odds are he doesn't even stay on the team for the duration of the season.

However, Jeff Green for the vet min is honestly a stroke of genius. He is exactly what the Cavs so badly need-LENGTH ON THE WINGS that isn't old man Richard Jefferson or NO HANDLE-Derik Williams.

As for the bench being worse? How can you say that because Deron Williams could not have been more useless against the Warriors if he tried. He was AWFUL!

No real issue with adding Green for the min, just wish LeBron would talk to a few impact players.

What impact players?

All we have is the MLE? Please don't say you wish we signed Tyreke Evans?

Why are you trying to be logical with some of the others in here?

The present. And the future.

Can't wait for Green to have this super-glued on his locker door right next to Melo's.

Maybe I am just getting impatient. Maybe there is more to come that is going to help us close the gap. Its just, as of now, I am underwhelmed. I do not have a lot of faith that Jeff Green will outperform RJ, even at his advanced age.

Its not like I am freaking out, I am fine with Green on a vet min for a year. No big deal. I am just getting antsy watching the Rockets, Celtics, Spurs and Thunder make big moves while we make hopefully lateral moves. I hope these guys are an improvement for the bench, its very debatable.

I'm actually a fan of Jeff Green, and I find it laughable that anyone would say this is a bad move for the minimum.

He can play. He's a long NBA wing. Career 13.5/5 guy.

He's still only 30.

Just wait until you see him in a lineup with LeBron. Rebirth.

Casspi has performed well against GS. ne of the reasons they grabbed him.

I like how people decide guys who have had success or not struggled against GS in their roles ... are TOTALLY UNPLAYABLE.

Totally unplayable is a cliché coaches use when they aren't creative enough to utilize a players strengths.

Richard Jefferson is borderline unplayable right now. He can not beat anyone off the dribble anymore. If he dunks the ball, the announcers stop everything and talk about what a marvel he is for someone in his mid 30's etc. He CANT SHOOT etc.

The only thing Jefferson has going for him is that he will never play scared and his basketball IQ is high and especially off the charts compared to a lot of other Cavaliers.

Jeff Green automatically becomes the Cavs 6th man if his back is healthy. This isn't the Calderon signing. Jeff Green is USEFUL!
