Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The small market pass is BS. Since when did Pittsburgh KC and St Louis and now Minnesota ( they have rebuilt with young talent again) become big markets. They could contend despite the market size. when they use that excuse they should taken to task. You have def been way too easy of Antonetti.
KC was the Browns of MLB and didn't make the post season for 25 years. It took their GM Dayton Moore 8 years to get the Totals into the postseason. Their roster reflects about 7 years worth of drafts and top 5 draft picks, several years of underperforming prospects, and is partially built from trading away one of the top pitchers in baaebsll, Zach Greinke. The Pirates are an almost identical story. Yes it can be done but it takes a perfect storm and there is little financial margin for error.

As for the topic at hand, Ryan Raburn is the guy occupying Sands big league role as a right handed bat against lefties. Not Moss. Sands reminds me a lot of Shelly Duncan- big righty AAA bat, had some outstanding years in AAA, some bat speed issues and no real position on the diamond. Duncan was overused and never settled in as a lefty masher. I think Sands can but you waste what he brings by playing him against righties. Hopefully the team can find a lefty to pair with him in a platoon next year.

Saying teams like the Pirates & Royals are doing it right is not the way to defend your argument.

As has been stated, both suffered YEARS of futility before righting the ship.

Pittsburgh went 20 years without getting to 80 wins and while they have made the playoffs 2 years in a row*, they haven't made it past the division series.

(*Note: since some here failed to say the Indians made the playoffs 2 years ago when they got beat in the WC game, I'm going to assume those same people won't count last year's Pirates team as making the playoffs*)

Kansas City went a span of 18 out of 19 years without reaching 80 wins.

For comparison sake, the longest the Indians have ever gone without 80 wins is (8) seasons (leading up to 94), even through all the futility since '54, which just goes to show you the level of ineptitude those 2 franchises had before righting the ship a couple years ago.

A few things:

1) The original post said to fire Tito, which is why I asked if he was serious. Tito is a top five manager in MLB and has produced 92 and 85 win seasons. Firing him would be moronic.

2) Tito is very, very close to Antonetti and Shapiro. It's one of the main reasons, according to Tito himself, that he took this job. If you fire Antonetti, you're probably losing Tito too.

3) Shapiro has little, if anything to do with the on-field product now. I'm amazed at how many people don't know or understand that.

4) The last time the front office did something to appease the fan base they signed Swisher and Bourn.

5) The Indians issue is drafting. If you want to suggest cleaning out that department and starting over, I'm on board.

Which is getting a bit better...decent amount of talent has been added to the farm the last few years, especially in the outfield and starting pitchers...just haven't found "The Guy" yet.

I honestly believe Dolan has a chance to gain some respect back from the fan base if Antonetti is replaced. Then cut swisher and Bourne and eat their contracts. Go out and sign a right handed bat, ( not a guy at the end of his career but a premium upgrade over what we have)bring Zimmer up and dont worry about his free agency 5 years from now. These type of moves would go along way to prove you actually give a damn about winning.

Bring Zimmer up now, so when he finally develops into the player you want he's ready to leave via free agency.

But it sends a message, which is the most important thing.

How about bringing him up when he is ready to help you win and paying what it takes to keep him? Am I asking too much? If so then there is no point to wasting my time. The owner stated his goal was to win multiple World Series championships. He took over 15 years ago and has yet to make one. If Antinetti can't put a World Series contender on the field then he does not deserve job security. It really should be that simple.

How about being smart with your young talent and understanding that the Indians will get outspent in an open market by teams who can pay people whatever they want?

You love to make a ton of excuses for a last place team. I am not going to go back and forth. If you are satisfied with the last 14 years we really have no reason to debate.

If you think Bradley Zimmer being called up in hopes of "winning this year" then you're mindlessly ranting about a solution that will solve nothing.

I'm able to put results in context, not just see the end results and turn my brain off while demanding change.

Especially if we're going to point to the small windows of the Pirates and Royals as "the way it should be" after two decades of being far worse than the Indians have been.

Never said bring him up this year. When he is ready to play at the MLB level he should be brought up unless you already have 3 solid outfielders in front of him. Sadly they will probably push Bourne on the fans yet again that are left next year.

The fans that demanded they sign guys like Bourn (no E) and be active in free agency?

If I have any beef with the regime, it's caving to the public pressure and going against their better instincts to sign guys like that.

The thing is without him and swisher they would not have made the wild card in 13.Thing is now you need to realize they can't play anymore and just eat the contracts for the final year. They had STO money from the sale and they wanted to improve the team. The idea was okay but they spent money on guys that were about to start declining in production. It was a mistake but you compond it by playing bourn everyday when he has little left in the tank at this point. Not sure why the sports stations keep giving updates on swisher. It would be like the cavs giving me an update on Brendon Haywood last year if he got hurt. Who cares?

How many teams will eat $15 million and cut a player?

Find that GM and sign him up...I guess.

Your plan is not only dumb but it's reckless and would sink the Indians even further down the shitter.

Yep let's eat the remaining contracts of Bourn and Swisher to NOT play here while you want them to sign more guys just like them! SMH...

Oh yeah, let's not worry about the super 2 or free agency with our prospects. Let's spend needlessly in the future to call up a prospect whose not ready. Why on earth would we start his clock during a completely wasted year? Absolutely reckless idea and something no other team would do in their right minds.

For everyone ripping this FO, just stop. Everyone praises the young, cost controlled pitching staff and who put that together? At least be fair if you're going to criticize. They couldn't have foreseen Gomes getting injured or Santana having a down season. Yeah the season hasn't gone as planned but some of you are losing your minds.
