Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Is being slightly above mediocre something to really tout?
It shows they are not as bad off as people are pretending they are. They are stuck at a crossroads though and have to figure out how to get over the jump and contend. They can't just buy the needed parts so they have to get creative. Maybe they need a change in leadership at some level too, not sure, but that is all part of the debate. Point is this isn't a Browns level dumpster fire by any means, so reacting like it is just silly. It is frustrating though and has to be discussed and vented about.

Indians fans don't deserve a damn thing.

Also, trying to label everyone who understands the basic economics of baseball and why it's nearly impossible for small market teams to be competitive consistently as "satisfied" is nonsense.

Actually supporting the team would be a start.

Maybe the positive development of Cleveland will improve the all-around support. But even that seems far fetched...

Those type of numbers are always easy to manipulate. I could go back and include 2012 and the raking would plummet. Over the past five years we are under .500. We deserve to see a team built that can make it to the playoffs 4 to 5 years on a row with a World Series appearance. If you are satisfied with a playoff appeance every 5 to 6 years then that to me is pretty sad as a fan. To each his own I guess. I have a few friends who are St. Louis Cardinal fans and they measure their success by playoff appearances and wins in October. That is the goal here or at least it should be.if the front office can't build a team who can win the division and make noise in October over an extended period of time, when why would you be so loyal to them and want to defend them to the death? That is something I just can't understand.

I picked the start of 2013 because that's when Tito came in. It's not like I just picked it randomly..

I agree with you about Tito. He is a huge bright spot in the organization. I hope he is manager for the next 15 years. I just want a different leadership group then Shapirio and Antonetti. It probably won't happen though.

I'm not pretending they're a dumpster fire. But I can't think of a single year since 2007 that I thought the Indians have had a legitimate shot at making an extended postseason run. We have known for years that they need a RH power bat to stabilize the middle of the order. But our front office hasn't pulled the trigger. Our current roster has some talent, particularly the starting rotation, but who, outside of Kip & Brantley, makes a pitcher flinch?

It's similar to the Browns front office knowing that we need a starting QB but not having the creativity to make it happen, albeit the Browns are incompetent in many more areas than that.

You realize that Shapiro and Antonetti are the sole reason that huge bright spot in the organization is here...right?

I mean....come on now.

So you saying that if Antonetti was replaced Tito would quit? Do we know that to be a fact?If Tito liked the ideas of the new GM and the plan going forward I think he would stay. Off topic just heard on the radio that the Carasco deal with the Blue Jays fell through at the finish line. I think Tito wants to win as a top priority, and he would understand if a change was made.

"There's two main reasons I'm here today -- Chris Antonetti and Mark Shapiro," Francona said. "We've kept in touch for the last 12 years. I value not only their friendship but their guidance and their leadership. I know we have challenges ahead of us but I look forward to us tackling these challenges as a unit, as a 'we.' I'm genuinely excited to do that."

I understand he likes both men personally and professionally. But I think Terry understands that change iat the top should be up to the owner if the franchise under performs. I don't think Dolan is even willing to make the change anyways. Listen I hope we win a World Series soon, but I have little confidence this leadership group can deliver. It would be great if I was proven dead wrong.

Serious question...

How many wins one way or the other do we believe MLB coaches can get a team? Let's say you've got a league average coach vs a supposed great coach like Francona.

Unfortunately - I think Tito has a ton of sway on a lot of those roster decisions. Why do you think Aviles plays so much, or we keep an 8-man bullpen, or he sticks with struggling veterans like Bourn for so long?

I don't think you get it... Terry is here because of Chris and Mark. He isn't here just because dad played here. If they go, they wilwill be hired on elsewhere and Francona will probably follow one of them- for no other reason than he becomes a lame duck manager for the new GM who will want his own guy.

You make a very valid point. If you gave the manger of the Phillies ( interim) right now the roster of the St loius Cardinals it is likely they would still be kicking ass. A talented roster will always trump a quality manager.
