Re: Browns New Offensive Coordinator

Oh my. Kubiak would be a fantastic hire. Great news.

It would also be good news for the addition of possibly Ben Tate.

Re: Browns New Offensive Coordinator

Color me surprised that a member of the Redskins organization, while engaged in a large scale war with the Shanahan's, would speak ill of him.

.

Conversations with several people within the organization

Several members of the organization said Kyle Shanahan was a cause of internal strife

rubbing many people -- players, fellow coaches and members of football operations -- the wrong way.

Riiiight.

Re: Browns New Offensive Coordinator

Kubiak would be the home run hire. Throw everything at him to get him.

That's why. His injury issues could be brought up but if theres hope to get him over here, then we don't have to draft a RB high. (eg. been seeing some Mock Drafts w/ Tre Mason going w/ our second 1st)

Agreed, open up the checkbook Jimmy. Experienced OC with years of head coaching experience and the ability to create a running game from nothing? Sounds like a perfect fit.

Re: Browns New Offensive Coordinator

Mock drafts are worthless, especially when they have Tre Mason going to the Browns in round one.

Re: Browns New Offensive Coordinator

Kubiak unlikely per Schefter

Guy gets results almost everywhere he's been up until last season. He can work under Kubiak again as the QB coach if necessary, but he's obviously a valuable asset to have and the statistics back up that thinking.

Daniel Snyder's media plant won't be coming to his birthday party, but I can't imagine he's the first coach to run through that organization who was disappointed in ownerships constant corner-cutting techniques.

I think this is more than a numbers game.

Kyle has never coached without the protection of his father and has never had anything less than complete autonomy as a coach. It's also evident that he's never been held to the standard that other veteran coaches or coordinators typically are because he's had the luxury of having things handed to him by his dad.

Is he a good football mind? Does he know X's and O's? Sounds like it. But I'd be reluctant to see how he handles a situation out of his comfort zone for the first time next season as a 34 year old.

Re: Browns New Offensive Coordinator

I'm not sure I care who the hell, the guy is...28's too damn young to be coaching in the NFL.

He absolutely has spent time without his father, he was Kubiak's OC during his time in Houston where he helped lead the Texans to offensive finishes of 3rd and 4th before going to Washington.

It has not been purely a nepotism thing with Shanahan, he's done quite well for himself at every stop.

He's 34

Re: Browns New Offensive Coordinator

what kind of back is Ben Tate? I have never actually heard of him. I'm guessing he was Foster's back up. Is he someone that most on here feel we should pursue?

In regards to the OC, I'm not sure anyone could make this offense click unless we have a QB who can run the show.

While they aren't the same exact back, the situation is sort of like Michael Turner behind LT. A very good back without the normal wear and tear of a feature back 5 years or so into their carer.
