Jim O'Neil is Frisco's Problem at DC

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Honestly only the 2013 and 2014 staff gave me reason to think they deserved it. But I agree with the premise.

Literally all of the Browns' laundry makes it to the media. It's been a hallmark of this team since Lombanner started getting involved. Unfair to Pettine, if you ask me.

Is it really too much to ask to keep a HC, OC and DC around for consecutive years?

Year HC OC DC
1999 Palmer Palmer Slowik
2000 Palmer Carmichael Crennel
2001 Davis Arians Fazio
2002
Davis Arians Fazio
2003 Davis Arians Campo
2004 Davis Robiskie Campo
2005 Crennel Carthon Grantham
2006
Crennel Carthon Grantham
2007 Crennel Chudzinksi Grantham
2008 Crennel Chudzinksi Tucker
2009 Mangini Dabol Ryan
2010
Mangini Dabol Ryan
2011 Shurmur Shurmur Jauron
2012 Shurmur Childress Jauron
2013 Chudzinksi Turner Horton
2014 Pettine Shanahan O'Neil

In 16 seasons, we've had the same HC, OC and DC in consecutive years 3 times. I know many of these guys left and haven't done much afterwards but dumping guys after a season is no way to conduct business.

Consistency isn't necessary... /sarcasm

Imagine if Jason Garrett and the Cowboys were in Cleveland.... Garrett would have been fired three times by now.

Hey, remember when I nailed the Shanahan story five hours before ESPN. Then b00bie argued with me... Then he was wrong?

Awesome, right?

Let's keep the personal stuff out of this thread.

But seriously, I actually don't remember this...

Really makes you wonder why they had such a tough time acquiring a coach in the first place.

Job gets more and more radioactive with each scenario that plays out.

My questions are: Is it real or perceived? Could it be smearing? Could Kyle want more "power"?

That's a lot of faith in La Canfora.

Good thing they acquired someone with, I assume, a strong POV/mind.

Well, it sounds like we wouldn't be dumping Shanahan in this scenario. If he wants out for a lateral move, we have two options.
1. Tell him no and make him honor his contract, which may create some drama.
2. Let him leave.

Telling a coordinator they can't leave because they have a contract is not a new thing in the league.

Allowing him to flirt with lateral jobs then telling him he can't accept another offer is another story.

Wouldn't that point to a willingness by the Browns to part ways with him? (Not that turnover of the OC is a good thing for them to want at this time).

Or is this a case of a media member not saying it meaning it is untrue?

Cough
Some rumors floating around Shanny is about to leave over on OBR

Might be complete nonsense but figured I'd toss it over here as well

Realphipps looks to of had this December 30th

Props for putting it on here first, I had heard Brent Jones dropping the Shanahan and Sons concept for the 49ers but didn't want to start a panic. You definitely confirmed that there was smoke to the fire.

I thought Kyle Shanahan did an admirable job in the first third of the season, but I didn't see many new wrinkles from week to week. It could be a blessing in disguise, but Haslam's reputation might get in the way of attracting a quality replacement.

We will see how it plays out. I'd prefer Shanahan stay as our OC for the foreseeable future. I think he did a good enough job and his offense is something that I think can work long term in the NFL.

Have the feeling the reason there weren't more wrinkles had to do with Hoyer's inability to hit his receivers and the run game that fell of the map after Mack went down.

Not to say it wouldn't have been NICE to see some unique plays, but what can you do when your guys can't execute the simplest of plays because of personnel issues?

So, is this dysfunction too?

I swear, Ravens fan LaCanfora ALWAYS has a story beating on the Browns.. It might be a true thing, but I have no doubt in my mind he's sensationalizing it. It's been a reoccurring thing with just him. The "dysfunction" has been around for a long time and it's been clear, but I don't see others writing about it as much as he has.

Probably a case of people within the organization less willing to talk to him, as opposed to Cleveland which generally has every piece of dirty laundry spread across the national media landscape.

EDIT:

There's also the whole "team is probably moving" thing there in STL, so I'd imagine there is quite a bit of instability.
