Joe "Captain America" Harris

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
18 points on 6 of 22 shooting...

I thought we traded Dion?

:coolugh:

Joe Harris is averaging 21 points, 6 boards, and 2 assists in 3 games for the Charge. Not bad.

Then Joe would be a good trade bait IF we really are on the prowl for MoWill. As if getting Mo needs more baiting.

As much as I wanna hold on to Captain America, he's either gone or he's never going to see meaningful minutes with the Cavs this season. :crushed:

I don't get the rush to eject young, cost-controlled talent on a team that is at the cap apron. Just seems like a future recipe for disaster. I get trading the young assets for star starters but now jettisining to rent a back up PG? Then again Kyrie has yet to make it through a full season so maybe this should be more important now that i think about it.

I think that's the simpler yet stronger picture the FO is trying to project. The "thirst" is much more important to quench right now than to develop young ones down the road. I hate it but it makes sense.

Not sure why the Cavs guaranteed his salary for next year. Makes him slightly less easy to trade. Was he threatening to sign in Europe or something? Anyway, there's nothing in his record at Virginia or with Cleveland that stands out or makes me believe he will ever be anything more than a marginal NBA player who is easily replaced. I mean, he is a system guy who doesn't really hurt you, but he really has to shoot at a high level to be useful because due to his lack of length and athleticism he doesn't offer much defensively. Is he worth it for $800K next year? Yeah, maybe, but not to every team, and I could see why a team would not want him in a possible trade.

Give him time. No reason to dump him..not like he takes up much money. Maybe in three years he can help us after improving his body/D/consistency. Cheap young players with real NBA skill sets (catch&shoot is as important as ever) can become great values if you have patience and develop them. Sure if something great comes along and we need to send him as filler or of whatever, I won't lose sleep but I see no reason to actively shop him.

i almost think joe harris should be getting more playing time

like not in the rotation or anything crazy

i would have liked to see him in the 3rd when it was clear we were winning and the entire 4th

kid is shooting 40% from 3...he could end up being something for us in the future, a poor man's korver/miller

His off the ball movement has improved as well. He can be a destitute's man JJ Redick next year.

If he can continue to shoot around 40% from three and not be a total dumpster fire on defense, he can find a rotation spot in the NBA over the next few years.

I'm glad he didn't get traded at the deadline.

I'm not big on "model teams" (i.e. copying everything that a championship-winner did) because I think every situation is different. However, looking at the Spurs, one thing that I think that they do that is transferable is that they let end of the bench guys who have some discernible skill develop quietly and find a role over time. I think for role players, familiarity with the system and coaches helps them get the most out of their talent. So in the future, rather than signing James Jones-type of guys, perhaps we can "promote from within" with 2nd round picks like Harris. I think this strategy works much better than signing aging vets in terms of complementing our stars.

Joe Harris is the reason I don't see a huge need for Ray Allen. What does Allen do better at this point than Harris?
