He’s an elite pass blocker on play action. He’s below average and only slightly better than Hubbard in normal pass sets.Conklin is about as good of a fit as the Browns could have possibly found for this wide zone system as a run blocker. He is really good in space and he's a really athletic and powerful run blocker period.
He's nothing special as a pass blocker, pretty much middle of the pack average at that aspect of the game. But Conklin has graded out better than Hubbard who was solidly below average so that should be a decent upgrade as well.

This is, in large part, why I think the team traded for Janovich. Neither of the tight ends are particularly good blockers, and while Hunt is too, having more than one good ancillary blocker is important for this scheme.I'm very curious to see how much Stefanski and Van Pelt will provide help for both of the tackles in the form of double teams and chip blocks.
Man, I know Right Tackle might be one of the least glamorous positions in the NFL but how is this thread just a one pager?
I guess a testament to the old adage of lineman being good when you don't even notice forgive them much thought.
The thread title being insanely bland makes it more fitting to your remarks I suppose.
